I have the esteemed HD650 (for Jazz/Rock) & 600s (for Classical). But I keep coming back to the X2s everyday. They bring so much joy to my music listening experience. And the great thing is I can use these with the Nexus 6P. And everyone knows the the 6P does not have a very powerful headphone out. I will most likely have to sell my Senns in order to fund my next BT headset for outdoors/cafes etc. Good review and your observations are in line with mine as well. When I listen to Jazz/Classical/Rock I hear textures in the low frequencies (Cello, bass guitar for example) that I do not hear with other cans. Very much of a layered/multi dimensional experience. If you want to enjoy the range of the X2s, try the Planets by Holst! You will smile like never before.

I agree with your review save for one thing, the treble. I didn't get a sense of sizzle unless the track was sizzly on its own already. Most of the stuff I listened to was controlled but exciting. The most relaxing extended treble that wasn't rolled off that I've ever heard.

Funny the comparison between the HD600 and the X2's. They are basically very similar in their charts from any place that has tested them. The difference is that the X2 has slightly ore recessed mids and treble than the HD600. Which means if you want to hear them properly you have to turn up the volume on the X2. Which makes the bass thump harder because the X2 bass a slightly more elevated in comparison to the mids and treble than the HD600 which it slightly flatter with the bass to the mids/highes. Put the two at the same volume and listen to them side by side. You feel the X2 just rolls off on mids and treble when you do so.

I try Seinnsheiser PXC 550 and the Fidelio X2,sound quality it's way better in the Fidelio, also the cost about the same in 2019, if you are an audiophile get these, if not, get the seinnsheiser.

It should be noted the pins that hold the heavy ear cups to the headband are made of plastic and will snap at the base of the ear cup. this is not covered under the warranty by philips. beware, or you will have an expensive paperweight.

+TheUnPlayable I really wouldn't say that, I find the two headphones to have very different sounds. It'll come down to one's sonic palette in the end, but my preference is for the X2 simply because it has no "gaps" in its sound spectrum. If only its treble was clean as the HD600s!

Have you tried Linux on your computer? Both Windows and Apple Operating systems run primitive audio processing algorithms due to the high overhead they incur on the PC. Due to linux being a Unix style OS that follows the POSIX standard, it uses much less CPU power while idle and therefor it limits noise due to computer activity

Sarky Ho No you don't need. But man, save your money and buy something else. Mine Fidelio x2 have ridiculous spikes at 5k and 9-10k. I have to reduce this spikes with around 10db to be acceptable. Good build quality, big sound stage and average imaging. If I were in your shoes I'll definitely buy something else. Cheers!

I enjoy the sound of my Fidelio X2 a lot, but lately I've been worried. I tested both my X2 and my AKG K518 LE (much cheaper and closed) on the same tracks and they sound basically identical: same amount of detail and, worst thing, my X2 doesn't seem to have as a spacious and wide soundstage as most reviwers say. I haven't been using an amp for the X2, then I'm driving them from my laptop, but this thing is bugging me a lot. Should I really get an amp? or maybe are my X2 faulty? One more strange thing is that the earpads of my X2 are glued, so they're not easily removable...

+Stafa Thiam Better is relative when it comes to hifi. They sound different. If you want a more aggressive top end and slightly forward treble, go for the Phillips. I love them.

For someone who wants to hear the bass in Rock music, probably the HiFi brands of their Planar-Magnetic line is better. Although they are like Nissan GTRs in a way. Each unit of the same model is different from one another. You can get lucky and get a pair of HiFi Planar-Magnetics that would stun you, especially for low end clarity, separation feel, and crispness without drowning any mids or highs at the slightest, or you could end up with a unit that wouldn't impress you much. Whereas conventional dynamic headphones units of the same model don't differ from one another.

Be warned, Philips sold manufacturing rights to Gibson and there has been a severe drop in quality in all newer models. Earpads glued on, left/right imbalance, and don't expect any help from Philips in resolving the issue.

As I've told you in the several other comments you've replied to, I've had multiple messages confirming that people are still receiving defective products. Not only that, I've linked you to the messages. And for anyone reading who is unsure, simply check the Amazon.com Fidelio X2 page and see if the item is still "Under Review." If it is, then the issue has not been completely solved/addressed. You can also find user experiences with new pairs on the headphones subreddit. As recently as 2 days ago, people have claimed to receive defective units. Buyer beware.
