I reckon PJ is doing the chorus which requires the higher register. Bones is doing the verses at a guess.

the verses sounds like bones to me (slightly nasally kind of) but singing in a lower register than he's known for

yes Bones sang the verses in this, pitching his high nasally voice down much lower, to try and match Judd's deep baritone. @@jimsmowingofficial
