I’m not surprised by Phil saying this. PRS has too many other pickups that are vintage or LowTurn (LT) winds that are trying too hard to sound like old guitars instead of going for a modern sound. The metal pickups are just hotter in comparison to the others, or mid gain per Phil, which isn’t saying a lot. PRS should have a lot more pickups that are hotter and push the amps more for modern playing.

That is the most amazing guitar. I think even if it was a lesser instrument, Phil would be genuinely touched, but the fact that it is such a looker and perfect in terms of quality and every little detail, really disarmed Phil. I had a tear in my eye the whole time watching this video. It shows how good of a person you are and how much people appreciate you for someone to do that. I try and show my appreciation for the people that have affected my life in a positive way also but that guitar is HUGE!! You must be an awesome guy to be friends with. I haven’t watched many of your videos and my interest in guitar videos comes and goes but I’m going to subscribe now because this video was touching and it made me feel emotions I typically don’t get to feel and if something can do that then it’s special and deserves some more attention than just a pass through click and watch on occasion. This kinda content needs to be on my daily watch list. And good on Nathan, that’s one cool freakin dude to do something so special for a friend. Watch and learn people!! What a wonderful gift from obviously a wonderful and thoughtful friend. It speaks volumes of what a wonderful friend you are to him Phil. I recently received a custom handmade guitar. It belonged to my dear friend John. We played together for 10+ years with the man that made the guitar and who is a luthier. Before John passed on 08/26 I had visited him on 08/01 and I put that guitar in his lap for a selfie with me. 09/13 we said goodbye to John. Apparently John had talked for days about how much our visit meant to him. His family said John would have wanted me to have that guitar. Cherish your friend and his amazing gift. Thank you Phil for doing such a great job for the music community!! 💜

After 15 years of playing I recently bought my first pro guitar, a used japanese Ibanez s2020 prestige. It basically has a similar look to this PRS, but with Mahogany top. I love it, plays awesome, but it got really beat up over the years. I thought nah, I keep the many bruises and dings as patina. Now, after seeing this, I want to work on it and bring it in nice looking shape again. This was really inspiring! Also thanks Phil, your channel has been a blessing. I know how you feel. I fixed a long time childhood friend's furnace after the previous company sabotaged it to sell them another. (A personal beef I have with my industry RHVAC. I Will Not Cheat People!) Well I got it back up and running, and confirmed it's running well and safely, and thought nothing of it. No charge since he is one of my oldest friends, and they were tight on cash anyway. About a month later I get a call, and he said it's about the furnace. I run down to his house thinking the worst has happened, wondering what I missed. I see the exhaust flowing from the vent. Now, I'm confused. I have all my tools ready to fight the furnace. I knock on the door, and they let me in, "Ok, what's wrong with the furnace?" "Nothing," he says, "we just wanted to thank you." Now, I am really confused. Here comes Nick's wife with a left handed Squier Stratocaster. Nick had found himself a new job and they were out shopping in Hillsdale and saw it in a shop window. For some reason it reminded Emma of me. So they bought it and presented it to me that night. It may only be a Squier but it feels good in my hand and it sounds really great. In 20 years of being a RHVAC technician, no one has ever done so much to say Thank You before or since. It just blew me way. So I understand how hard it is to objectively do a review of something so close to your heart. You are rich beyond your dreams.
