The reason the PRS tele didn't took off was the price, plain and simple. People tend to associate telecasters to lower priced simpler guitars than a strat. Having it be more expensive than the silver sky is ridiculous.
@shanetx8122 күн бұрын
Agreed, and also it was not really “just a tele” in the way that the SS is just a strat. The two PRS tele style guitars both have humbuckers, and while those Narrowfield pickups are good, interesting pickups… they just aren’t tele pickups. A telecaster, for me and a lot of us, is all about that bridge pickup. I’d say the NF53 was almost more of a Tele Delux or a carbronita than a “normal” Tele.
@ryanandring268820 күн бұрын
@@shanetx81funny you say that because I associate teles with their clean neck pickup
@shanetx8120 күн бұрын
@@ryanandring2688 interesting! I always thought of the Tele neck as a good flavor but ultimately weaker than the Strat neck. My bias toward “Tele = bridge” probably goes hand in hand with my inability to dial in a bridge sound on my Strat that I like (recently fixed by tossing in a Seymour Duncan SSL-6 “Gilmour pickup”). I always thought the Tele bridge and Strat neck was probably where I’d end up but I haven’t wanted to mod my Tele where my Strat has been tinkered with so much it doesn’t even remember what color hair it was born with. But back to subject: I’d be interested to know if, given your preference, do you view the NF53 or Myles for Kennedy as a competent replacement for that Tele neck sound?
@robschaller906120 күн бұрын
What a zombie-like opinion... totally CLUELESS. A tele is a TOOL in your tool box it does jobs better than a strat for certain sounds you are trying to achieve. What are you SO ill informed that you think guys on stage are switching guitarts for FUN or SHOW tell me you arent that stupid

Great show as always. On breaker cables I still get "pops" with active guitars - as you might expect because the cable connector turns on their preamp power. Examples are my Godin Multiac and G-Tour, a partscaster with Fishman Fluence, and two partscasters with the Graphtech Ghost piezo system. I've also had switched connector failures with the old Planet Waves connetors and one failure with a Neutrik connector. I think that unless you have a need to frequently switch passive guitars, it is not worth introducing a failure mode in your signal chain.
@CaseyKoplinCk1316 күн бұрын
What do you mean by "failure mode"? Im about to get my first active pickup guitar very soon (its being built now), so i find your comment here very interesting. Could you explain it alittle more?

Watch those trades closely. Lately Guitar Center has been giving you a gift card essentially for a trade - then in their system applying that to the final purchase you make. The problem is by doing it this way you are paying the full taxable amount on the final purchase - where you should have only paid the difference in the trade and the item you bought. Depending on the tax laws in your state, you could be overpaying on sales tax.
@derekp.68321 күн бұрын
I don't necessarily agree with it, but for non-vehicle purchases that is how the sales tax rules work in most states. Your local Guitar Center is quite possibly being forced to follow the rule properly (as opposed to simply being ignorant).
@anotheryoutubed21 күн бұрын
@@derekp.683 There is no sales tax on private sales. Even a pawn shop buying something from an individual to sell PUBLICLY later, is still a PRIVATE sale TO the Pawn Shop. Only FROM is it a public sale that would require sales tax.

Sort it out, Phil: real men need more girth. ...oh, and Merry Christmas. Love KYG :)

You need to check your vitamins and mineral intake. If people are telling you that salt, cholesterol and saturated fats are bad for you, you're being lied to. Your body can't process and absorb water without salt. Your brain runs and lives off cholesterol. Saturated fats are what keep your entire body going with the proteins you're eating. I used to have terrible allergies until I started taking D3 and got my vitamin D levels back up, now I haven't had any allergies for two years straight. The 'health' industry in America is just that, an industry that does not make any money off of healthy people. There's a reason the FDA won't approve any minerals or vitamins, the entire pharmaceutical industry would collapse if everyone wasn't so ignorant of why they have health problems.

Unless the economy turns around, we will see a lot of major manufacturing guitars just sitting around and collecting dust in many of music stores across the U.S. IMO, most of these major guitar manufacturers have been gouging us for years and soon they will start to face what the auto industry is facing today, as well as all new tech and superfluous toys. People will start to hold onto their money and realize they don't need such and such an item. They will wait for the close-out prices and then spend their money. Just my 2 cents worth. Peace.

There used to be a cable called Zzyzyx or something like that. The plugs were held on by magnets and you would pull the cable off the plug, same effect as breaker cables, with the added be fit if someone stepped on the cable they wouldn’t pull the plug out, just remove the cable & plug connection. You could buy separate plugs so each guitar could have a plug, and it was easy to switch guitars/basses that way. And they had straight and angle plugs. But if you had active electronics you would need to remove the plug after the cable/ plug connection was broken so you didn’t drain the battery. But no issues with passive electronics I bought one when I got a giftcard to a music store. It worked great, but the cable itself wasn’t the greatest and so it stopped working after about three years for that reason, but the idea worked well.

On the "good Strat" subject, for years I had two Japanese Fender hardtail Strats. I've always loved hardtails, and these two served me for years. I sadly had to unload both of them in the early 2000s, which was a bummer because I think they each cost me just over $300, and finding a Japanese hardtail now will set you back over a grand IF you can find one. Last year I came across a Charvel SoCal Jake E Lee model, and a few months later, a Charvel SoCal HH HT. I scored both of them for about half of what they cost new, and they are the best playing, most indestructible guitars I own.

I don't know if anyone cares, but setting up a mkiiC+ is a little different from setting up a mkiiC+ mode on a later mk series Boogie. The reason is that the channels are not independent on the original amps, the clean channel feeds into the lead channel, so the way I aproached it, long before I (or anyone else) had ever heard of James Hetfield or John Petrucci, is like this: Set up the clean channel with the maximum input gain that will give you the level of clean you need, and use the knobs and pull pots to set up the clean sound you like, with the graphic eq off. This usually means reducing the bass and trebble a little and boosting the mids, so to get that back when you switch to the lead channel, you use the graphic eq, and hence the classic V pattern on the sliders. Once you understand how that relationship works, you can spice the two chanels to taste. :-)

Tip to PRS or any other brand that tries to market a tele looking guitar. It will always be compared to the original and sadly, if it doesn't sound like a Fender Tele, does not have a new sound that really appeals, and it cost an arm and a leg, people will always buy the original. Phillip, I have a question and I hope it reaches you, as you might be able to answer. The hardware side of guitar playing has always been my weakness. Currently, I'm in a bit of a tone/style crisis, and I'm not knowledgeable enough to get out of it. What I wanna do on guitar is, play percussive/slap fingerstyle with a bit of overdrive/distortion. Do you think that's possible/viable on an electric guitar? If so, what kind of pickups/pedals/gear etc. would be best? I'm looking for a setup that doesn't have trouble picking up on the tiny nuances, has decent sustain, and simply sounds good. The more details you can provide, the better. I'd appreciate any advice. If anyone in the comments is able to answer, I'd be more than happy to listen, too.

I think the reason why PRS strats ranked higher than PRS teles is because of the price point. After all JM strat that came 3rd is the SE model.

If manufacturers Jaime their prices will we see a shift to budget and mid price pedals in the consumer market. In other words are the premium manufacturers going to price themselves out of the mass market?
