Good review Phill - I bought one of these too. I saw your review on the 2000 and was going to leave a comment on there, then realised you'd also reviewed the 5000. Lots of my mates have bought Crivit reels over the last 4 years or so, and they are still going strong with proper care, mostly in use for sea spinning.

Phil just a suggestion i think with these reviews perhaps a bit more in depth i understand they dont cost the earth but if you could weigh them with line on or off! Is their play in the handle and gears? How does the line peel off when the drag engaged and off? Does the reel fit the rod reel seat comfortably? Does it feel weight forward when the spool is on and unbalanced ? This would make complete review. Just saying!

One good fish and the drag is knackered mate. False economy wish I never wasted my money.

I've been using the older models for a year and landed carp to 18lbs without any issues.

I'm sure there might be some iffy ones out there. I bought one that was faulty. The rear drag didn't work. I returned it and got a replacement.

I have two of the older Crivit models that I bought a year ago. Are the spools interchangeable with the new models?

I don't think so because the spools on the older ones have a deeper area where the line goes. Strangely though, the older 3000-s fit one the newer 3000-s but it's not the case with the 5000-s unfortunately.
