im not a philly shell type of guy.. but i do like the half step jab to the body, and i must admit.. that bully jab deserves gold !!

Is this style better for someone who’s body will be targeted? I’m a beginner, but I’m finding better ways to defend my body. While sparring, those body shots really got me.

Hey Dylan . This can protect the body pretty good if you know how to use this stance for defense . Generally I use it for long range , but a few fighters use it up close as well . Keep that lead arm wraps across the body tight, right above the belt line and make sure to make adjustments to defend those brutal body shots !

@@SlickSluggersBoxing i absolutely agree with this. Actually the Philly shell helped me a lot about body defense, distance, evading tactics, not fearing to be hit...

Good video 👍useful tips,me personally I’m a kickboxer,but I do like to use the philly shell here and there as it’s a good way to bait people in,I’m a southpaw believe it works to,but I’m not as advanced as boxers to use it at close range like mayweather does take lot balls speed reflexes use it under close pressure,but it gives of a vulnerable look at thats when walk them into shots or kicks in my situation

arguably it's more useful in close(if you're comfortable) in kickboxing because you're out of kicking range

I always thought that it was a bad habit of mine after moving from boxing to Muay Thai, but I'm starting to realize it can be used effectively if done right.
@jamesmiles13282 жыл бұрын
@@lemmefeelyerjibblets8856 Muay Thai probably not as good to use it in,as leg kicks are the main tools people use,and Philly shell more a side on thing,karate better used as in side stance more,boxing range obviously got to have good skills reflexes speed to master it

Good tips, I knew all of them but the last one. That's sneaky, I'm gonna test it out in sparring 💪💪👍👍

This is an outboxer stance? I'm fast so I wanna be an outboxer
@thenameofthegame40373 жыл бұрын
It kinda is, but you can use this for almost every style
@thenameofthegame40373 жыл бұрын
Be careful if you wanna be an outboxer. You need a strong inside game as well. And you need to be able to stand still sometimes. If muhammad ali had a inside game and better hand defense he would probably never been defeated
@redsnflr2 жыл бұрын
@@thenameofthegame4037 true, as Andre Ward said about Floyd Mayweather(& how he was inspired to become one too), he's an "all-terrain fighter", whether outside, mid-range or inside, the defense and offense is on point. You can't control the range the whole time and it makes you more unpredictable fighting multiple ranges.
