WOW! I hadn't heard! Doug was ALWAYS great to me! He and my father (Harold Drummonds) started together back in Lubbock, TX and stayed friends til dad died. Saddens me, GREAT guy! Rest in Peace, Doug! You meant SO much to SO many.

A big thanks to whomever filmed this and put it on youtube so those of us who could not the there in person could see it and remember. Doug, I met you as a young man in the summers of 1992,1993,1994, 1997 and 2001 when I was a Philmont staffer. . You and your colleagues on permanent staff influenced me in a such positive way. As I grew older, and began serving our country overseas I could not stop thinking about the place you made and how much I wished I was there instead of the where I was. I knew you were a Marine, in addition to all your scouting roles, and I just couldn't wait to get back to Philmont someday and tell you all about it. Your influence and example were irreplaceable. God speed Marine. Ill see you on the other side.
