Does it like the coco coir pole? Any roots penetrating the pole? I am considering between coco coir and moss poles.
@jennicamae36142 жыл бұрын
hi! i received a one leaf cutting that was rooted several months ago but i haven’t gotten a new growth point yet although the one leaf and roots are all very healthy still. it’s next to a humidifier and under a grow light so i’m wondering what the problem might be :/
@onlyplants2 жыл бұрын
Does it have a growing eye on the node where the next leaf should sprout? Without this the cutting wont produce new leaves. Also maybe give it good light + care and more time, sometimes it can take longer.
@wildlifegardenssydney74923 жыл бұрын
Gorgeous plant. I like your updates. I get rid of ants in my worm farms by putting in a litre or so of water with my kitchen scraps. Water could work for your mumma plant rather than a poison to get rid of some of the ants. Also the Mumma has been decapitated into 8 pieces and you shoved that huge moss pole into her in her tiny pot! The Mumma plant needs lots of love and attention (repotting) and this will sort things out with the ants, moss pole and her roots , nutrition, and root space needs. Terima kasih banyak ! for your videos.

I noticed that you cut the stem really close to the node. Isn’t it better to leave more of the stem on the cuttings? If stem starts to rot, you can still try to save it by cutting away rotting end of the stem.

Interesting... I dont experience a lot of rot at the stem, although the roots yes 😀

@gypsylee3333 жыл бұрын
Do atabapoenses always keep the red back? I bought a large leaf cutting labeled that, but the back is normal colored, I'm thinking it might be a Billietae, is there a way to distinguish? The seller said the back wasn't red because it was mature. The new growth point is like light beige green, not pink. Does that sound like a Billietae?
@floridahiker15033 жыл бұрын
The cultivated form of Philodendron Billietiae mature leaves have orange petioles and closer internodes and the leaves are held more vertically and dont have as long leaf length ratio.
@onlyplants3 жыл бұрын
It could be a hybrid with billietiae, these two mix together really well
@gypsylee3333 жыл бұрын
@@onlyplants that's what I was thinking also... Maybe it will be easier to tell when more leaves come in, the growth pattern seems a bit different between the two. Thanks

How much of the stem do you cut off and why
@onlyplants2 жыл бұрын
I cut off a lot of the stem actually… some say you should leave as much stem as possible to leave room for rot and as nutrition supply for the plant. Theres pros and cons for sure… 😅

Won’t ants bring mealy bugs to the plant? One of my wishlists plant.
@onlyplants3 жыл бұрын
Ants bring mealy bugs to feed on their sugary poop. But if the plant readily excretes sugar the ant will bypass mealy bugs entirely, in fact the ants will kill them to stop them from stealing their sugar.
