@@theDDutchie88 Only marginally. The brand of neo-capitalism or neo-liberalism Thatcher introduced in the UK, Reagan introduced in the US and spread to many countries is the issue. The single aim of any listed company is to maximise profit to push the share price up. Their bonus is dependent on that share price, so if they want a millions upon millions in bonuses, they will be ruthless. It is a very perverted cycle because the company itself doesn't really matter anymore. The employee becomes a cost on the balance sheet instead of the backbone of the company. In the 2 decades after WW2, most countries had very high profit taxes and those were invested in the country, It also forced companies to invest in their business and employees. Good wages, modern equipment, etc., so there was less profit to tax. All the social programs have also been gutted or cut, so people who are getting paid too little, with massive inflations the last couple of years, have nothing to rely on. They still pay a lot of tax but none of it is invested in the country. It all goes to tax cuts and subsidies for large companies as the neo-liberal governments believe trickle-down economy works. The inequality is the issue, not capitalism as an economic system.
