@@unsolicitedadvice9198 Man's Philosophy of Law? What is absolute objective error? Men call the law system the justice system. It should be called the justice and injustice system. One can't mix justice and injustice and call it justice. Injustice is guilty, a capital crime is punishment by capital injustice ie death with death, injustice coming to fruition not justice. Death is injustice, not guilty is life, justice coming to fruition. 🎉🎉🎉

Granted I'm biased because I'm Catholic, but I wholeheartedly agree with your last point. Reddit atheists have for too long written it of as "sky daddy fairytale book" without engaging with its content. I really enjoy hearing non-believers discuss and analyse the Bible and its philosophies and theologies (plural), from their own perspectives. Indeed, large parts of the Bible contain really harsh criticisms of the religious governments (that's basically the point of the Books of Kings) and of the hypocrisy of the religious elite (like Amos and Ezekiel), which many find suprising to learn.

I think having a set of ideals or beliefs as your guide through life is necessary in order for one to live life fulfilled. But to be unable to "entertain" new positions when you are grounded imo is just as much of a problem. There's this middle ground that has to be struck so you don't become blind to other paradigms the world has to offer, even if you don't accept them and continue with what you personally hold true.

True intellectual curiosity is very rare, confirmation bias very common. There isn't any risk in never having an original idea. Original thinking is unpopular. People feeling certain that anything original said by an obscure living philosopher is by definition wrong. The push back comes before any serious thought takes place. A reflex of sorts.

How are you liking it? - did you go right into PoS, or did you start off with the science of logic or the philosophy of the Right? - You definitely should read the back summary in PoS before reading Hegel's substance, and as you read you should compare your interpretation to the summary of each proposition.

This is probably not the right place to ask this but here I go nevertheless: I've heard you, on multiple ocassions, liken the believes a person holds with gödels first completeness theorem: a statement is provable (a belief of someone) if it is true in all possible modles of the theory (of reality one considers). 18:28 It also depends what you mean by God. The Christian God is unprovable practically by design. The Christian God is not the only version of God, however. We can prove Zeus is not on Olympus by going up there and checking. We can prove that there is at least human-like intellect in the universe (and ergo the universe possesses at least human-like intellect) by starting from the same place as Descartes- I think, and I am part of the universe, such as it is, ergo the universe thinks.
@alena-qu9vj5 сағат бұрын
The notion, that not seeing Zeus squatting on top of Olympus waiting for materialists's gimlet eyes to be evidenced is a definitive proof of his nonexistence, is such an infantile nonsence :-)) Only evidencing your absolute ignorance of the matter in question.
@vitriolicAmaranth4 сағат бұрын
@alena-qu9vj I didn't say it was proof of his nonexistence. I said it was proof he isn't on Olympus. It is very much like a theist to be illiterate, though. The more definitive statements you make about an actual, physical thing (like the Greek gods), the more vulnerable it becomes to empiricism. If that thing is real and it is as you say it is, it becomes easy to prove, but if it is borne of speculation in the first place, your initial claims will be proven false. You then must either admit you were wrong or begin shifting the goalposts- "Oh, he just isn't here right now, he's somewhere else." "Oh, actually he isn't material, he is incorporeal so you'll never find him. He's real though, because I have secret knowledge that is not based on observation or logic (ie I made it up)." The benefit of the Christian God is that all the goalpost moving is already baked in. It doesn't take a neopagan LARPer making categorically false statements about their own appropriated gods to dodge any actual inquiry, because it is already established that God is all-knowing, all-powerful and unknowable. There is clear precedent, if we assume He is real, that He takes actions specifically to confuse or anguish humans, and we are told that while this seems absurd and petty to us, that is because we are not all-knowing and are infinitely more ignorant than God. Thus all intellectual discourse on the matter is shut down; There is, in fact, no reason whatsoever outside of traditional indoctrination to believe in this version of God (just as with Zeus), but to one who already believes in God, He has both the capacity and the will to utterly hide Himself such that no empirical process can ever certainly reveal Him.
