The first 500 people to read this will get an A+ just for being here. ➡Being vegan is a moral baseline for anyone who cares about rights. 🍓Can you honestly be a good person if you pay strangers to sexually assault mother cows, force them to be pregnant, kidnap their baby boys (to turn them into veal sandwiches and steal their milk), enslave the baby girls to become milk machines like their mothers, all because you like the taste of cheese? Answer: No. 🌽 All good people must strive to be vegan. 🥦If you're reading this, don't get mad at the messenger. Instead, watch the documentary called Earthlings to understand and to begin to change into the person you deep down want to be. You can do it!🥕

True intellectual curiosity is very rare, confirmation bias very common. There isn't any risk in never having an original idea. Original thinking is unpopular. People feeling certain that anything original said by an obscure living philosopher is by definition wrong. The push back comes before any serious thought takes place. A reflex of sorts.

I'm surprised he never brought up Ralph Waldo Emerson. Similarly aphoristic to Nietzche and said many of the things you've mentioned. Of course Emerson has plenty of his own inconsistencies and problems but he had some good points about the value of originality (whatever "originality" really means)

7:25 That is a very good point. I still fall into the pit trap of feeling above other people who get caught up in materialism or static worldviews, but it’s good to take a step back and put yourself in their shoes. Pointing out the perceived flaws in someone else’s argument isn’t justifiable unless you’re in a legitimate debate or trying to actually making sweeping change, and even that is mostly relative. Sometimes you don’t need to justify just doing human things like going Goblin Mode on a lazy Sunday or getting weird in the bedroom. Explaining or critiquing a philosophy is all well and good, but creating your own just based on your own values and observations will always be more challenging. Instead of looking down on others for not thinking the same way, I find it more productive to figure out why they are happy and I’m not.

My issue with debates on the existence of God is that the problem is by construction undecideable. To claim that one position is objectively correct implies a level of knowledge on the nature of being and the metaphysical reality of the universe that I've yet to be convinced anyone has. I tend to label myself as agnostic, but I generally favor the idea that there is *some* sort of higher power that exists, simply because it's a belief that has no cost and ever so slightly positive value to me in the form of a slight amount of comfort.

@voxsvoxs4261

Wait how is it undecidable? You can make objective calculations on the possibility and necessity of those the traits necessary of god and whether their combination is neccesary. Like you can say omnipotent thing, see if the omnipotent thing has to be omniscient etc.

I feel the same. I'm agnostic because if there is a God, who says we even know bro? God could literally just be watching all these religions like "no thats not what i did bruh" or he could not care at all, or it could be a dead celestial being, or it could be a constituent force of the universe like the strong force, we literally have no idea afaik. Something started the universe and that something is God. This is all I can tell you
@EllipticalReasoning

I agree with you regarding _the debate_ on the existence of God, but personally would reject the idea that knowledge of God is equally intractable. Like in the sciences, where theories cannot give a confident answer the matter can usually be resolved by experimentation.

As for the first meme, I think the biggest issue is that a lot of people, especially online, want to have read philosophers rather than actually reading philosophers, with Nietzsche being the prime example. His works are not only very difficult, but he also changed his mind a lot, and the result is that people online tend to completely misunderstand him and his works due to only getting the gist from some 5 min KZbin video on him. And don't get me started on Camus. I absolutely hate the Internet idea of Camus. The Sisyphus quote is part of a like 2 page chapter in a 134 page essay that's part of a 2-book project. Discussing Camus online is absolutely impossible.

Granted I'm biased because I'm Catholic, but I wholeheartedly agree with your last point. Reddit atheists have for too long written it of as "sky daddy fairytale book" without engaging with its content. I really enjoy hearing non-believers discuss and analyse the Bible and its philosophies and theologies (plural), from their own perspectives. Indeed, large parts of the Bible contain really harsh criticisms of the religious governments (that's basically the point of the Books of Kings) and of the hypocrisy of the religious elite (like Amos and Ezekiel), which many find suprising to learn.

Ever since I was a kid, they were never shy about talking religion, politics and all of that stuff. Unfortunately, I don't think many people have had the same luck that I had. 17:08 I'm not sure if you ever read the Prince in its original Italian, but the way it's studied here in Italy really aims to "devillanize" Machiavelli's figure- he's far too often seen as a cold, ruthless political calculator, when in reality he detested the idea of "the end justifies the means" as it's intended today. Machiavelli does not advocate for the end justifying the means because it's the best thing to do, rather because it's the best way for one to keep power, IF done correctly. For example, Machiavelli talks about how Cesare Borgia appointed a pretty evil governor over one of his conquered cities, let the man get away with basically anything and then killed him after a month (or a year, I could be misremebering this) in a very violent and theatrical fashion, without the public actually seeing it happen. Once the people found the man's corpse, they cheered, after which Cesare gained their support since he'd shown that he was willing to kill his "friends" to help them. That's the end justifies the means in a nutshell. Instead of gaining someone's trust with actual acts of goodwill, you can just fix a problem for them in spectacular fashion and boom, suddenly everyone loves you because you got rid of the villain. Much easier and cleaner than bothering yourself with appeasing one city through tax reforms or some other nonsense. In general, Machiavelli did actually care quite a bit about the people of Italy, and advocated heavily for them to come together, or at the very least stop being so divided, because they were easy prey for the other European powers (as the 16 and 17th centuries very quickly proved). He was also a harsh critic of the ruling elite and held very little sympathy for them; whatever support he did show was probably just for show (pardon the pun), since he'd already suffered a lot after the Medici came back from their coup.

I think having a set of ideals or beliefs as your guide through life is necessary in order for one to live life fulfilled. But to be unable to "entertain" new positions when you are grounded imo is just as much of a problem. Could you do a video on your own experience in reading and getting to understand some mystifying philosophers like Nietzsche or Hegel? I think it would greatly help the viewers to close in on some complicated topics.

Regarding meme #6, I question the idea that the universe is inherently logical. What we call "logic" may simply be a projection of our limited capacity to perceive and interpret reality. Likewise, the concept of "sensory data" as entirely subjective or objective falls short. For instance, the "redness" we perceive isn't located solely in the object or in our mind-it emerges from the dynamic interaction between the two. Our perception of logic arises from the fundamental processes that shape consciousness: recording, retrieving, and inferring. These mechanisms allow us to categorize, recall, and anticipate experiences, shaping how we engage with the world. However, this doesn’t mean the universe itself operates within the constraints of these processes. Rather, our brains are intrinsically limited to conceptualizing phenomena that conform to these frameworks. As a result, we tend to ignore non-patterns and temporally complex relationships that elude our ability to perceive them as coherent. Our conscious experience, deeply rooted in the retrieval and processing of information through neural pathways, restricts us to engaging with only a specific and accessible layer of reality. We are locked inside the retrievable layer of reality.

I'd say that an obvious idea is still worth looking into. There are a couple of reasons to it, the chief one is that stating the obvious brings everyone to the same page, it's not ground braking, but grounding instead. Often, the obvious is not so to everyone: an illusionist knows how grounded in reality and the laws of nature, how obvious their tricks are, even though their audience don't. To quote sir Arthur Connan Doyle: "There is nothing more deceptive than an obvious fact"

The part where you talked about Schoppenhauer, and overlooking when we are happy...I've kind of had a mini revelation today If I had a good day, I need to take the time to think amd feel what was good, and if I had a bad day I need to do it too Otherwise my mind will get cluttered with everything i don't need Because I need good and I need bad But I don't need wasted thoughts

2:20 You explained it well. One should not have pity for the weak, because it is a condescending attitude. Being kind to them cannot be due to such an attitude. That would be using others to show yourself as a good person.

Philosophy of Knitting, for the record I'd totally watch this! I guarantee most people experience reflection while knitting and has had some sort of philosophical moment that they could relate to, if not just the idea of 'who realized of this pattern?', passing down an intricate movement across generations, and how it has impacted cultural evolution and vice-versa.

For the Cat who says, "You think your notes are cookin, but realize it's the most obvious thing." I find the total opposite. I look at my notes and say, "wtf am I taking about?" Or you forget to write down your citations. I once wrote an entire paper responding to an essay on Battailes, where I didn't write down the citation, nor even any of the quotations that essay was on, so I literally had no idea what my own paper was arguing.

I think we severely devalue sincerity. The real brain rot in our modern times is thinking that sincerity is meaningless or impossible. That just breeds a greater lack of sincerity.

You could say this comment may be an unsolicited opinion :) 7:27 You said people react in a rejecting way if you put more of your own thoughts in the video, but tbh since i first started watching you i craved for your personal opinion on any topic. And the more you provide it the more lively video becomes. And i'm sure there's plenty people like me. So, please continue adding your own opinion! Your content is terribly interesting and addictive on it's own, because of how good you analyze things and then you actually are explaining them well. But all in all it's even more cool to see you integrating your thoughts into topic at hand. Also your meme series are like a full of milk kitten to my hungry mouth

Your comment about insincerity is honestly profound, i never thought about it that way, having a sincere opinion on anything does always put one in a vulnerable spot. But personally, i think it also gives perspective and purpose. These nihilistic people must be very aimless in their lives. Honestly, i'd rather be hilariously wrong about my beliefs than not have any beliefs at all. I'd rather be a lolcow than a redditor

The way that I took Meme #6, it was more about how people rely on scientific thought to either prove or disprove religion, where the smart person knows that they're two fundamentally different things, and that in order to either prove/disprove religion you kind of have to approach it on it's own ontological level.
