Cool to see AD back door deals are booming, while an AD customer waits years for a watch of their choice. Everything is available!

YOU SHOULD PRAISE PHIL FOR DOING THIS FOR ALL OF US. KEEP IN MIND HE DOESNT NEED TO MAKE MONEY OFF WATCHES THAT ARE WAY OVER VALUED IN THE GREY MARKET. NOT AT ALL. PHIL HIMSELF KNOWING WHT HE KNOWS WOULDNT BUY MOST OF THE STEEL WATCHES DO TO DOUBLE THE AMOUNT.WHOS THE STUPID ONE??ITS NOT PHIL

The danger you have is, people are more likely to part with 10-20k with your business despite you not having a ‘shop’ as such. They’re a lot less likely to spend 50-150k with you as it doesn’t feel they would have a lot of recourse if something went wrong. My advice would be to keep doing what you’re doing and keep selling watches to the people you have already sold to. Make a slightly larger margin as the years roll on. Stay in your lane if it’s working. You also don’t have the issue of losing out on big pieces with vast sums tied up if the market suddenly changes which as we all know does happen from time to time with the world being a very crazy place at the moment.

Just because prices have dropped dramatically doesn’t mean the market is dead, just means it’s a buyers market so everyone is buying up at good prices
@Madeinlondon67Ай бұрын
@@j.w.1329 The markets drop because of lack of buyers. That’s the case in all businesses. A year ago you couldn’t even speak to Rolex AD’s but now they are calling clients, Fact.

Rolex's sell themselves, especially the sports models. Be careful at the higher end of things where things can take much longer to shift. You'll need to have deep pockets to hold things and patience. I recall you had an Aquanaut that couldn't sell a while back and you had to resort to buying the rubber strap to make it more appealing. Selling high end pieces is a different business to the Rolex gravy train

Don't spend 50 k plus on a watch from a back pack flipper FFS
@alangordon8171Ай бұрын
Agreed. I find it bizarre this type of business model can thrive. Why would anyone buy a watch from this guy? Buying luxury watches should come with a luxury or at least upmarket experience, not meeting in a random coffee shop for handover. No training in watchmaking or experience in watch retail, no store, no ability to browse different pieces before buying, no in-house watch specialist, no 1 year warranty. I could go on. Will the business be around this time next year?
@davidbrown9947Ай бұрын
@@alangordon8171 100% agreed. My bet is he is struggling and loaded with non shifting inventory, and that causes cashflow headaches. He needs to continually sell to buy. I guess he wont be about in 2 yers time. He has done some TV cooking stuff. His ego is off the charts

So much salt in these comments. I respect anybody who finds margins in buying/selling items and carves out a living for themselves. you ever thought about the people that rolex was actually made for? the wealthy people with good jobs and entrepreneurial business owners that can actually afford rolex watches comfortably without a second thought on if they can afford it. them people do not care if they buy a batgirl for 14k wear it a few years and sell it for 11k or less or px for another one as an upgrade.. the people that think the watch market is completely 'dead' are the ones that bought one as an investment in covid because they were all going up because of the demand was crazy due to people 'investing' instead of buying a watch they like regardless if lose money or not. Trust me when i tell you there is still plenty of wealthy people buying and selling there watches especially in places like london
