I am a middle school math teacher. I want to take some neuroscience courses perhaps even working toward a graduate degree.

I'm starting school in August for my undergrad in neuroscience and I'm planning to get my PhD after that(in neuro, not psych) I was just curious which classes you found the most challenging. For the first two years I'll be taking mostly gen-eds with the neuro major specific courses coming 3rd and 4th year. Honestly I'm super excited for those, regardless of how hard they are! I have no idea what genetics is going to be like though lol

In my personal experience there were a few hard neuroscience classes, but this also depends on the school, professor, how the class is taught, etc. Intro to neuroscience, stats, and I think I took something else so that I could bypass genetics lol otherwise I actually liked most of my neuroscience classes. Hope that helps!

I’m in highschool and don’t really know what pre med major to pick. It’s hard because this sounds very interesting but like I don’t have much experience in this subject. Is that bad? Do you have any advice because I don’t really know what major to even consider.

Good questions! Usually first semester is a great time to try some different classes to see if you like them. Plenty of time to explore and see what is best for you!

What are the subjects taught in Neuropsychology?
@philsguidetopsyd Жыл бұрын
Usually it's neuroanatomy, some bio courses, and assessment courses (these are the tests that neuropsychologists give to assess for conditions like dementia, or ADHD)

Can you give info about best college to get phd in neuropsychology

It really depends on your interests, and focuses, everyone is a little different. But I'd say, accreditation is important, clinical experiences provided, classes taught, research offered, and faculty turnover rate are important things to consider when applying.

Phil I couldn't spell your last name sorry. Neuroscience sounds like want but I also would want to be a epileptologist, can this be achieved?
@philsguidetopsyd6 ай бұрын
In the U.S. that would be 4 years of med school after the bachelors/undergrad, then a neurology residency, and fellowship and board-certification. Typically neuroscience is a good major to start if you're interested in the med field.

In neuropsychology studies the Neuroanatomy psychology and what!? Pharmacology?!
@philsguidetopsyd Жыл бұрын
Neuropsychology doesn't include pharmacology since neuropsychologists aren't able to prescribe medication. They might learn about medication but there is no in-depth study. And yes it's typically courses that cover psychology with a focus in neurocognitive disorders. There will be videos in the future that will talk about that mores so stay tuned!

@@Neuropsychologists I'm not sure about other countries, but in the U.S. unfortunately that's just how it is. Psychology school is still different then medical school/pharmacy school so there isn't as many psychopharmacology courses.
