It still blows my mind how your "very easy" monday pace would actually knock me out for the rest of the week at half the distance 😅
@molochz
@molochz Жыл бұрын
Is that the 8:11 per mile pace? Obviously everyone is different. I've only been running since August and I'm in my early 40s. But that's my easy run pace. I wouldn't call it fast to be fair. Anything below 6 min per mile is still very fast for me. But I'm working on it.
@timwildauer5063
@timwildauer5063 Жыл бұрын
Same! I just committed to a 7.5 mile leg in a relay in December, and I’ll be absolutely chuffed if I do that anywhere under 9 minute pace. An “easy” 7:18/mile is insane!
@cdamm7095
@cdamm7095 Жыл бұрын
Just remember, running is all relative! I run 11:30 miles for easy and 10:30 for "hard." And you know what? That is good feelings for me when I do it on long distances! I'll never be Kiptum, and I don't need to be because I'm me and that's good enough 🙂

@@molochzit was 7:18/mile for the run she called “very easy pace” …which is just about my easy pace atm as an 18 year old in full triathlon training 😂
@katy3901
@katy3901 11 ай бұрын
@@molochz I'd assumed it was the 7:18/mile pace -- and I'd agree with them, I ran 7:09 for my 10k race, was *ecstatic* with the result, and came 7th/~500 women. Very few of my runs average anything under 7:50: I do a lot of tempo/intervals with 20-40 mins of warm up/cool down to get the miles on my legs. To be honest, even if they were talking about the 8:11, I think your comment is a bit unnecessary. Running pace is relative, and we can't all be as fast as Phily!

Just out of curiosity, when you complete a week like this and you NAILED all your target paces, does your coach make the next week’s goal paces faster? Keep paces the same but extend distances? Or do you aim for consistent 100% execution at similar levels in consecutive weeks? Great job, by the way, both on the training and video!

Wow, impressive kilometage ;-) I hope everything goes well with the preparations for the marathon! I remember talking to my therapist and she asked me about my trying- too-hard mentality, that blocks me from time to time. She wanted to understand what I did in the past and I told her about our crossing-the-Alps trip by mountainbike. When I told her about the experience and mentioned that we went "gemütlich uphill" for 3h she had to laugh. She said I should keep that in mind when evaluating a situation - lots of people don't associate "3h uphill" _not_ with "gemütlich". Love the grind 💪

Nice work! What a fun little group of athletes you get to train with. I’m really curious, besides chocolate milk and protein shakes, what you do recovery wise on a high mileage week like this? Or, is that your training secret? Massage, foam rolling, vibration plates, inversions? I would think a bit of swimming after the harder efforts would really boost your recovery. Thanks for sharing your journey. I’m in my mid 40s and trying to reconnect with my love of running.

I rest generally - sit down, nap, take a gentle walk. I keep it simple - maybe a massage once a week but I genuinely believe sleep>all the recovery fads

Question, I notice you do band works before warm up, does this help the hips to get warmed up for action? I notice in long runs my hips get really tight, would this help?
@queenofallusa5391
@queenofallusa5391 Жыл бұрын
The band helps with the joints, tendons, and ligaments as opposed to the muscle. You can have strong muscles but very weak and rigid joints, tendons, and/or ligaments. Banded clamshells and quadruped fire hydrants helps with hip strength, mobility, and flexibility. Try it. I had the same issue.
@PhilyBowden
@PhilyBowden Жыл бұрын
I’d recommend some hip mobility work, there’s some great runner’s hip mobility routines on YT! Post-run or in the evenings can be helpful to stop them being tight the next day
