Whoever told you that about their last album ‘Dark Flag’ seriously misinformed you. It’s fantastic.

I personally feel like their first album "Thegodmachine" is still their best. All of the albums afterwards were a little too samey for my personal tastes. This new track tho... It's absolute fire.

I loved Dark Flag but it did feel a bit off with the bass in the whole album, I personally liked the feel that it gave but a whole lot of other people weren't to keen on it. Personally my fave album by them.

@@RachelleReacts seriously though it's actually an amazing Album. My only qualms with it are the production which sounds a bit thin but overall it's a fantastic album that I highly recommend.

Been listening to these guys since their first album and they're one of my favorites. Their guitarist, Dan Gailey, is also one of the guitarists in FFAK

I disagree that Dark Flag had a bad mix. It was different, but not bad. If you're going to check it out, Rachelle, I recommend starting with Hell Below and Burning Bright, both songs with music videos. Glad you liked In the Night! I love Phinehas so much.

Drums really carry this song, something about the pace and tone of that bass drum that makes the riff come into its own.

Really solid track. Makes you think what Daniel Galley could have done with FFAK on The Path if they let him flex these riffs a bit. That main riff is the star of the show for me. Those chugs under the lead give this quite the early 2010s feel to me, along with that pretty basic but chunky breakdown. Vocals are really solid, and I like the chorus quite a lot. Nothing negative I can say about the song, however I think it might have bit of a dated sound to me. As I said about, it definitely has those early/mid-2010s vibes. Sounds great, and I would have loved it back 5 years ago. I just think for my current tastes it doesn't quite push the genre too far forward like other bands are doing with the sound. Solid track, but I'd probably choose to go to more innovative releases from the past 2 years.
@testingmyaudioaddiction34523 жыл бұрын
Two things about this: 1. Daniel is not the only guitarist in this band. Sean, the vocalist, also plays guitar and co-writes the guitar parts with Daniel. 2. FFAK is not interested in a sound like this, and that’s why Daniel doesn’t do what he does with Phinehas with FFAK. Daniel actually started as a fill in for Bob when he left the touring life, and he does some vocals on The Path as well.
@ciaran13443 жыл бұрын
@@testingmyaudioaddiction3452 Yeah of course, obviously if FFAK wanted to sound different they would have. Doesn't mean that they didn't waste Daniel's potential imo. I felt like the guitarplaying was really lacking on that album, something I hadn't felt on any release up to now.
@testingmyaudioaddiction34523 жыл бұрын
@@ciaran1344 imo, their best album is Deathgrip. This mainly because everyone in the band at the time had their potential maxed out. They added Daniel on the tour for Dark Skies, so he is still new and I’m sure still trying to find his place in this band.
@ciaran13443 жыл бұрын
@@testingmyaudioaddiction3452 Agreed, Deathgrip is my favourite album too. Just perfect balance of all my favourite elements. It'll be interesting to see where FFAK go from here - they obviously released The Path with the intention of doing arena shows. Just picked the worst year to possibly do that lol. I'm hoping they find more of a middle-ground on their next release.
@testingmyaudioaddiction34523 жыл бұрын
@@ciaran1344 that seems to be the how they move with albums. Dark Skies was like a combination of Deathgrip and Slave to Nothing. I see the path as the next step, but they need more songs like Prophet to actually take that full step.

I'd agree that Till The End is their best album, songwriting wise and production wise. Dark Flag is still great in terms of songwriting. Definitely some catchy hooks
