One of the best weekends of my life. From 94-98 a group of 7 or 8 friends went to roughly 50 Phish shows together, and this was our last run. Shortly after we finished up college and began moving to different to places, starting careers etc. Life happened, but man what a way to finish up. I still love going to see the band to this day, but it's not quite the same as it was in those legendary 90s days when we were all together and the band was peak mind blowing. I'm thankful to have just witnessed that era. As far as I'm concerned, it's the closest live music ever got to perfection.

Before the first set, I blew up a giant red balloon and drew a boognish on it and wrote "WEEN RULES" and "ROSES ARE FREE!" and threw it out into the crowd. I watched as during the first set that balloon bounced its way onto the stage and consistently put itself in the way of the band. During the set break a small human came out and played on stage and began throwing my balloon around and eventually took it backstage with them. They opened the second set with this song. OH THE FEELING.

I was there those shows and man hearing the crowd roar when Wipeout starts during possum gives me goosebumps and at the same time bums me out. Just had so much fun back then. Was on a mini tour between 3 venues at that point. I think Worcester being the final stop. Or maybe not. Can’t remember. The shows back then were just amazing. Treys guitar was at its peak. I haven’t watched a video from this era in a long time and man watching him impresses me. Was so used to it then we almost took it for granted.

Wow I didn’t know this was recorded!! I wasn’t far away from this camera. I was tripping really hard. Not something I’ve done at that many shows since usually I would be on either full tour or a long run of shows and it can be really staking of a substance. These shows were awesome. Saw some amazing shows from 97-99. Not sure how anyone can argue that phish from 94-98 or 99 wasn’t the best period. So tight and all the amazing songs! There are very few songs past farmhouse I can really dig. I think they tried to add too much lyrics. For me it’s all about their instrumentals and jams. Wordy slow songs just don’t do it for me. While with Grateful Dead or JGB a lot of the slower songs are my favorite.

During the 92 new yrs eve run we saw Trey and Paige at the hotel and asked them who they had been listening to. Paige said this great band called Ween. They only had 3 albums at that point we got all of them in quick order. Very cool they were covering them a couple yrs later.

@user-dc1dr9kr8x The band always did receive the energy back that they put forth to these Worcester crowds over the years. That's why they kept coming back. That place is now folklore as far as I'm concerned. Can any respectable fan say they've never experienced a Worcester show?

@@vincentt.5040 I was there in 97 and 98. In fact, me and a buddy got to hang out with the Dude of Life the day before this show. He played an afternoon set at a little bar by the Centrum, and there was hardly anyone there. We watched his set and then talked to him for 10 mins or so. He was a cool guy though. Definitely an original. The Friday night show that weekend was face melting though. Especially the 2nd set. It was one of those shows where you stand there with your mouth agape as chills perpetually run up and down your spine thinking, "How is this level of musical mastery even possible?"

I was on the 3rd tier during this show. And was spacing to say the least. I remember feeling like the whole level was going up and down ( which it actually might of been with everyone dancing), also remember the red lighting being used more than normal and felt evil to me with the music lol. Was a great show

Any Phish nerds out there (which is a compliment in my book) have an idea of how many shows Fish wore the Viking hat?

I think he wore it because he fell through a glass coffee table and needed stitches right? That's what I heard. That's why Trey broke out Wipeout on the Friday night show and kept the theme going through the weekend. It was a not so subtle rip on Fish.

Search for the Phish song titled Dave’s Energy Guide. After you’ve discovered this, look up the song Discipline by King Crimson.
