This Christmas I decided to give myself a gift that I’ve been wanting for nearly two decades and I finally achieved it. I bought myself a powerful quadraphonic surround sound speaker system and two additional woofers for increased thundering rumbling. I finally got it all set up and tweaked it to perfection a couple days ago. I also decided that I wouldn’t actually play anything until Phish’s New Year MSG shows. I cannot even begin to find the correct sequence of words that are appropriate to illustrate the feeling I felt the moment those first notes exploded from those speakers consuming my entire music room with their multi-textured interweaving otherworldly scents and subtle sounds!!! After Phish has given us their annual wonderful New Year’s gift, I am going to put Pink Floyd’s album, Meddle. I’m going to put the album on side two and immerse myself deep into the ethereal musical labyrinth that is Echoes. Peace to you all!! I love my JVC 4VN-990 quadraphonic integrated amplifier. I use an Involve Audio Surround Master to turn 2-channel audio into 4-channel.

The mixes from these MSG shows have been SO MUCH better than this summer. I was in the room and Mike was noticeably super clear and upfront (which in my opinion is the key to a better mix; see 2016-2019). They really hit a low Spring 2023 (even though musically that tour was amazing), but I am super satisfied with how things are now!

Mix has been lacking since Gary Brown showed up in 2009. Live Mix with Altschiller was awesome. I often wonder how Vance Powell latched himself onto Phish and has this job. His mix is so awful..

Phish's actual sound mix is not good at all, and it has been bad and getting worse for a while. The LivePhish mixes are terrible with Vance Powell. Some people they have employed to mix the LivePhish did a fantastic job, but it seems they were not kept on board. I blame Red Light Management for the downfall. Best playing the band has ever done. Worst sound touring right now both live and in the releases on LivePhish. Nothing to do with the band, their audio engineers are terrible.

They don’t really have a lot of monthly Spotify listeners either but they constantly sell out shows at venues like MSG in the blink of an eye. Phish is the kind of band that doesn’t put up big numbers in those areas but the listeners they do have REALLY love them and will spend lots of money to see their shows.

For the love of god whoever mixes this will you PLEASE TURN FISHMAN UP? This has been an ongoing issue with these. This jam, like many others, is great but could sound so much better if the listener could feel the heartbeat from Fish’s kick as well his snare.

Mix is so bad. Like listening to four guys play instruments inside a tin can house. Not to start a riot, but Goose sounds phenomenally better mixed than Phish with a lot less money at their disposal. Having people mix your music that care goes a long way. Gary Brown and Vance Powell don't give a F**k about the final product. That much is obvious.
