I took my folks to the first night of bethel woods '11. On the ride up, we ask the "what do you want to hear" game..my mom said "tweezer" my step father (who is many ways the antithesis of anything phish related) said.. "they should play something by Jimi hendrix' because Woodstock etc. I said "waves". I can't remember, but it was either during kill devil falls or waves that in unison, they turned and looked at me with a look that was "wow, ok.. I get it now". I think my step father may have actually gotten a bit tipsy. At our hotel, We stayed up for an hour or so just talking about the show. This does not happen in my family. It was one of the best nights of my life. Thank you phish for being phish.

My older brother (14)was super into them, but my parents were always in a recreational but working band..knew the deal, heard some things about these hippies from Vermont and the distinct possibility of various shenanigans/goings on.. so they wouldn't let him go alone and didn't find a babysitter= my first show! Anyway my point is that Ive loved this band since then and am probably guilty of being of a "jaded vet" or whatever at times..
