There is media-driven popularity and then there is fan-based popularity. The former is designed to generate wealth for a record label for about 1-3 years before the name disappears altogether. The latter isn’t designed to make money, per se. It is for niche groups of people who come together to enjoy music as a community. And that’s what bands like Grateful Dead, Widespread Panic and Phish are all about-albeit with some mainstream tunes.

With the right device you can make a pattern grow.....A key element to Phish and there success is that they realized this very early in their career. It takes BALLS to try new things and stick with it regardless of what anyone thinks. They purposely flip the script, constantly change musical styles ,experiment with new tones and rearrange songs to keep things fresh. Fans are picky but it's a fun part of the experience to dissect Phish and all of their intricacies, if you respect their process. They are masters at playing transcendental music on a level that is not achieved by most musicians or bands. We have to provide them with acceptance energy, positive vibrations, and connection exchange. I personally think they are capable of expert level performance every single night comparable to this Tweezer and most of 2021! They were struggling just like everyone else not being able to do what they love and dealing with covid like the rest of us. They came out of the gates swinging after covid! We provided them the respect and energy they deserved 2021 tour! They Delivered and so did we! You get what you give!!! Rant over!!!

Fun going through these comments now several years later and after just spinning the ‘24 Mexico Wave of Hope and Chalkdust for the umpteenth time. Just incredible at all times!!

I'd like to see Split Open and Melt with this type of "whatever they're doing to their songs now" thing.

Haters gon hate but if someone enjoys musicianship in any capacity. How could you possibly deny the raw talent of this band?

I'm an admitted geezer who isn't too big on post-1999 Phish...BUT, I have to say, THIS is seriously IMFU(KINGPRESSIVE stuff...and, as I do still pay attention and listen to the shows, this is, without question, the best thing they've done in a laaaaawng time!!!
