Im living in a premium flat at kakkanad and i would like to say onces everything is handover to association the maintenance monthly cost will shoot up and it may vary upto 5-6k per month which is a useless in terms of a common man but the "high" standard living people of a 20% doesn't mind and it will leads you into a "survive" model rather than a peaceful life. This is happens to 700+ flats association. mine is 850+ in a many acers and very lack of mobile network which you may consider a small issue at first but later it will be a big issue. And i prefer to opt less than 100-150 flats apartments which you yourself can accommodate to a peaceful life and can penetrate to assoc as well easily, so keep an eye before opting flats.

Not just monthly maintenance. As the apartment gets old ...Lift replacement, Generator replacement, painting etc are costly. Sewage treatment plant, Rain water harvesting , Garbage convertor etc are a must in apartments in Bangalore. Swimming pool maintenance, replacement of Gym equipment .all together apartment & villa are white elephants

Sujith.. you will be travelling mostly, so better take a studio apartment near airport and take a villa in thripunithura area where metro have access. You are not covered "things needed to be taken care while purchasing a flat", main thing for common man will be the monthly maintenance amount, then the certificates and its genuinty, all the flats which is going to be demolished was approved by all leading banks, So we need a genuine agency or method who can verify the certificates are good to go. In cochin, water source is another main concern (except kakkanad area)
