Warner Chappell are a music licensing service which several people use to falsely copyright songs from C418. The screenshot you showed says they've claimed the Mice on Venus melody as someone has likely used their service to copyright a cover or remix of the song. They've gotten pretty out of hand recently with the claims, but you can likely get it disputed successfully as C418 is the actual rights holder to the music.

KZbins copyright system is a compromise. The other option would be, that everyone gets a cease and desist letter and has to pay a fine for using someone else's copyrighted material. A reaction isn't protected by fair use. Unfair is that only big cooperations have the power to send out all these cease and desist and that Warner is profiting from the media coverage

I've had _EXACTLY THAT_ happen to me two or three years ago! I made a normal Minecraft video and JASRAC_CS (according to my research a Japanese copyright claim company) claimed my video for containing the song "Wet Hands" by C418. And it's on the Minecraft Creator Safe playlist, so I'm allowed to use it. When I responded that Minecraft's music is allowed to be used in Minecraft videos they immediately asked KZbin to delete my video if I don't cut the song out within three days. If you look at the claim you got, it's for using the song "Mice on Venus".

Years back I was claimed for Minecraft note block renditions of the Pulp Fiction (Misirlou) and Terminator 2 theme songs. Not even particularly good renditions, I wrote a MIDI conversion tool specifically for the purpose and the output was not entirely accurate, hampered quite a bit by the restriction to one octave and redstone repeater timing. On appeal, the copyright owners reasserted their claims. The copyright system is beyond broken, more so when you get a "private" company straddling the line between content curator and common carrier, like KZbin, involved as arbitrator. What’s happening to the Minecraft movie seems to be the same thing that’s happed to the Borderlands movie: Using a star-studded cast to appeal to the audience that knows nothing about Minecraft rather than the actual fans of Minecraft/borderlands. Both seem to be changing core aspects of the games they’re portraying to fit the world of the movie regardless of what the games have established. Also both movies feature Jack Black.

Idk about Borderlands (i.e., I've played the games but haven't watched even a single teaser for the movie), but an average adult would 100% not go into a brightly colored movie with CGI ("It's a kids' cartoon, why would I watch it?"), but children are very much into Minecraft right now (it's a resurgence of sorts). So one of the two things would happen: they would bother their parents until they let them go to a movie about their favorite game and this will make like a billion dollars, or they would scoff at trailer looking nothing like the game and continue watching amateur KZbin animations and the movie will bomb as hard as Borderlands did.

@@angulinhiduje6093 Wrong. 1) KZbin were the ones to put a system in place that makes it easier for a random person claim any content, and get all the advertisement profit that's coming directly from KZbin, than it is for the legitimate owner of content to contest the copyright claim. The only thing required of the benefitting party is to be legally registered as a company, KZbin does the rest. 2) KZbin isn't a platform, they just enjoy al the perks of one without any of the required distinguishments from a publisher, except for content ownership, which in on itself doesn't mean much, since things like ad income or even owner's access to his content are still up to KZbin to decide on their website. The 1st problem stems from this fact as well, because the only entity that can get anything done about it at large is the US government, but that'll go the same way as them trying to prosecute Google and Microsoft for being monopolies, for how many decades now?

@@randaru1527 youtube put that system in place because they were threatened to be sued for what people upload. they ARE a platform. imagine you could sue google for the content on its listed websites. or twitter for every tweet that contains copyrighted material. that is an insane hill to die on. so in your mind the CEO of twitch should be able to upload copyrighted contend on youtube... and sue youtube to the ground. this obviously dosent work. but youtube is legally required to take down copyrighted content. they cant go case by case because of the numbers so they came up with this system. OBVIOUSLY it sucks. but they were forced to use a trash system or loose millions. it should have legal consequences to report false claims, but the legal repercussions should fall on the one doing the strikes and not youtube. you have a very naive world view.
