Fabric conditioner is brilliant for removing dust and fluff off surfaces. Furniture, TVs, etc. you need a wet clean cloth. Pour a capful of conditioner onto the cloth. Spread the conditioner all over the cloth. Wring it out well. Dry on a radiator until completely dry. Take cloth and dust softly over the tv screen. (De-statics the tv). Softly dust all sides, tables, chairs and all Dustable surfaces. And you will also have a fresh smelling home. Shake the cloth thoroughly outside.

A helpful tip would be to mix in larger quantity in a large bowl. Find some small used plastic containers to drill small holes in the lids. Fill said containers with mixture so if for some reason they get knocked over by a creature (my cat) it won't be a mess to clean up.

It's also really nice to just smell a clean house. Dollar store fabric softener doesn't make your house smell like a "rich man's." Breathing all this cheap fragrance is bad for your brain and your lungs- not good around children with asthma and allergies. Just clean your house and open your windows to let fresh air in. If you really want clean air- clean with a steamer and use an air purifier. The smell of that is beyond clean!

When I was a teen my friend and I hated this potpourri scent at her house. It was the kind you ad water and flower petals to and is heated when plugged in. It smelled like cheap dollar store bathroom fell scents. One day she had this great idea, she would put a piece of her shit in the potpourri and let it steam out so her mom would stop using it. A day later a fresh pot was back in it, so she did it again. I was crying from laughter every time someone would comment on the smell of the potpourri. Her mom kept making us smell the bag to see if it’s rotten and tried maybe 4 times to make a new batch but the stuff kept ending up smelling like an outhouse so she finally stopped and tossed it all.

I just use a mix of long lasting floralfabric conditioner and water in a spray bottle, just spray the curtains and fabrics a little in the morning, and your house smells fresh all day. It's also good on clothes and bedding if they've been stored a while. If you're a non smoker with a car, do this in the car ash trays but use those dessicated gel bead packets instead of salt, or facial cleansing pads because salt and cars don't mix.

Same here. Spices are wonderful for both our senses and health. The chemicals in fabric softener aren't good for us. We don't think much of it when we're younger, all we know is it smells fresh. As we age and begin suffering the consequences from exposure to it we realize just how foolish it was to ignore the warnings.

Inconstinance is more common as we age. At 75 I know! I use a lot of incontinence pads and sometimes adult diapers. Still there are leaks even using these. I mop a lot with vinegar and water. I am definately going to try the coarse salt mixed with fabric softner and cloves.

I'm a lone batchler and mostly worry about dust(alergies) especially when weather turns colder and I have to keep windows and doors closed. I've only used spray bottle with deluted alcohol, and a vaporizer, but I really like your idea. Best part is the cloves as they are used in cooking as germ killer. I did use fab soft in spray bottle when renting older house once, but I will definitly try this trick with other things suggested in comments here. Thank you all.

@megan893 @sabinechanging2269 - I know this would be the more sensible and logical thing to do, I've tried that too. However, when grandson found himself without a towel his father gave him his to use. I also have no authority over how many towels my son wants to have. I don't do their washing but regardless, it's still using up water, electricity and laundry powder. Therefore if I see towels dumped in a heap I give them a light spray with diluted fabric softener etc......
@julietberry5578
@julietberry5578 Жыл бұрын
@sabinechanging2269 - I dilute the fabric softener and put it in a spray bottle. Only need to give it a light spray. I don't consider this to be unhygienic as one person mentioned because they've hardly been used.
