Funeral is basically a song about not being a kid anymore (age-wise), but still struggling with things you thought you would've surpassed by this point and feeling left behind and immature and feeling bad because of it, because while you are just cruising along life and feeling sorry for yourself that you still feel like a kid in your 20s, there are actual kids to whom life suddenly happens and they just die. She's having survivors guilt because of someone she barely knew, simply because this dead kid was her age. It's a beautiful song. I especially connect with the "and its 4am again" bit so much. Anyone struggling with depression will. When life is moving just way too fast for you and you're struggling to hang on and you're constantly overwhelmed with everything, that the only way you've found to stop time, is to just stay awake all night. Instead you sit in front of your computer, your TV or are on your phone all night because time does feel like it's not moving and it is only during the night you can find some sense of calm for yourself and are somewhat able to breathe and before you know it 'its 4am again' and you're 'doing nothing, again' others I'd recommend: Scott Street, Killer, ICU, Moon Song, Chinese Satellite, Savior Complex, Graceland Too, Me and My Dog

😭😭 as someone who has struggled with depression at several points of my life, I also found that to be especially moving… truly the song itself is a masterpiece - the lyrics, the vocals & backing vocals - all of it. I really liked the chorus as well. “Jesus christ, I’m so blue all the time”- that recognition that that’s the way it is but feeling powerless to make that change. “That’s just how i feel, always have and I always will” the feeling that you would never be able to escape that “blue” feeling. My GOD you are something else man you explained it nearly perfectly feelings but each person are different though and it can be nearly impossible to explain some feelings it's such a cycle a redundant cycle but :)... here we are it's almost 6 am Friday I have 4 day off every week and well here I am... I have NO idea.

I am 23 and feel like I am stuck, listened to smoke signals on Spotify 4 years ago and came to know of Phoebe, things have gotten worse, I feel worse cause my parents do care about me, yet i ak unable to do anything with my life, I am too lazy when I have opportunity and after it has gone I am stuck with regret and guilt, I just feel hopeless now and thinking of giving up, I wanted to ge a doc but I didn't ever have the entrance and now I am stuck with bachelor's in life science, which has no prospects, in my country everyone got stuff figured by 18 and I am way past that cutoff, i have been above average student but I didn't learn anything cause I just studied a day before exam and got decent score, it ruined my habit and now I have no understanding, couple it with low street smarts and poor foundation, i am fucked, and constantly thinking I am too late and giving up is easier, being ugly and having hypochondria and potential cancer doesn't really help. Listening to and "I have done nothing again", just brings me so much sadness cause every year i am like this year or decade will be mine, but I waste all of it, I had so many chances 4 years ago now I am old not a teen anymore and I fucking hate the feeling, i wish I was using my time wisely, now I am just stuck while seeing others get what they want, I can never have that, and best thing to do is to stop existing. I am just taking Ls everywhere. This is the best life I will have, and it ain't getting better, my parents will be tired of me soon, how did I ended up as such a disappointment.

I just got into her. Was gonna check her out after seeing her at the Grammys last year, but completely forgot her lol. Then I decided this year to finally listen to her stuff and was blown away! So yeah, she’s amazing. I would say Smoke Signals is probably my favorite song from hers atm. And yeah she also gives me Lana and Billie vibes as well.

A few details for you, a lot of her musician friends are in the video for Smoke Signals, as well as her brother Jackson, named after Jackson Browne, who she’s collaborated with several times. Pros- Jojo is sweet, old & cuddly! He loves to sit right near me wherever we are and he loves being pet/loved on!! (I dont think all cats are like this, but a good amount are!) Cons- the litter box (literally the only con)
