The crazy thing about this whole situation is that Ryan hyped up this song and album to get her noticed more. She even said he guilted her into going on tour with him after their relationship ended. She only said okay because he threatened to harm himself if she didn’t do the tour. ALSO - Ryan used to make fun of Phoebe for being a Taylor Swift fan and then did the 1989 covers while they were dating. Total narcissist move.

I relate to this song so deeply, from the lyrics to the melody and pace. She's saying such hard words and talking about grief and revenge even in a monotone voice because as she said "I can hardly feel anything at all" with a dancy melody in the back. This song sounds exactly how my apathy towards abuse feels like, I've never felt so seen by a song before. Another mind blowing point for me is that she talks about emotional motion sickness while driving a scooter, which doesn't make sense at first because they're usually slow, untill I understood that they're typically used for *kids* . Honestly, one of my favorite songs ever with the most relatable and heart wrenching first line.

I just wanted to tell you - THANK YOU for all of these videos. I have been going through a really difficult time recently - been used by another man, same old same old… I was a victim of manipulation and gaslighting in an abusive relationship a couple of years ago and unfortunately it’s been really difficult to move on to better things. It was really therapeutic to listen to you analyze these songs that I’ve been listening to for a long time now. It really helped me get some perspective. And heal, at least a bit. It also made me think that maybe I just didn’t meet therapists who would suit me before. Because you start to make me believe that therapists can actually be empathetic and not just judgemental. Thank you so much. Really, I had some really dark days recently and listening to you really helped me dig myself out of there a bit.

It's gotta be so surreal for artists to process their experiences and navigate their emotional landscape through their music and have 90% of their fans just bopping along like, "Wow, this is so groovy and fun!" i'm loving your videos, the phoebe is a great addition! it'd be great to see your reaction/interpretation of the second verse of lana del rey's song wildflower wildfire, it's definitely something relevant to your perspective as a therapist. her song ultraviolence would also be a good one to react to; it's from the perspective of someone in an abusive relationship where they're still so in love with their abuser, to the point where they don't want to get out of the relationship (idk if i phrased that right)

I love Phoebe so much... my favorite songwriter working today, hands down. Taylor Swift is outstanding and verbose and intricate in her writing, but phoebe is so brutal and up front and seeringly insightful. It's like the difference between Art Nouveau and Art Deco, or Virginia Woolf and Sylvia Plath. They're both brilliant, but Phoebe man... just wow!

I think in the course when she said “I could scream to drown you out” that means drown him out of her mind. But when she said”You know I'm never gonna let you have it But I will try to drown you out” I think she meant that she’s not gonna let him live in her mind anymore and she’ll try to drown him by telling us in the song what he did. That’s my interpretation. I could be wrong.

If I may, can I suggest a few reaction/interpretations vid’s? Mainly, Katelyn Tarver’s “You don’t know” it’s a beautiful song that speaks about Anxiety, depression and how it feels. I think it would make a great video given your knowledge and background. Also, Phoebe’s song “Waiting Room” (although it’s her VERY early work and she was like 15 or 16 when she wrote it) but nonetheless, it’s beautiful. Her songs are true masterpieces, she’s an incredibly talented woman. If you enjoyed her song, I’d suggest checking out Boygenuis, as it’s a group Phoebe created with two other very talented song writers\musician’s named Julien Baker (she’s literally a genuis) and Lucy Dacus. They did a tiny desk concert and its was superb. Because I can’t help it and I’d love to know your insight….
