Hi Andrew, Thanks for the relaxing video. Needed it as we had some last minute Thanksgiving change of plans yesterday. Was going to take my dad and sister to our cousin's for dinner, but the temps when woke up was in the low 20's F and was not good for his COPD. I drove to my cousin's, after he finished cooking, and brought back all the fixings for the turkey dinner. At least my dad enjoyed the meal. Also, two of my friends in our astronomy club made a large donation to my dad's GoFundMe and the goal is now over 50%. :-)

G'day Andrew, thanks for all of the videos mate - you tell what I need to know and shortening my learning curve massively. I'm a brand newbee with a Bix2 (after loosing my "SAFE" cub in the sun and it flew off never to be found after only 5 flights). My first 4-5 attempts to launch the Bix nose dived. I have now repaired it and set it up properly and will attempt - weather permitting - to have another go tomorrow. Bricks are being produced at the thought. Mate, I would not have kept going if it wasn't for the info you, and Arxangelrc to a lesser extent, push out. Thanks mate, best of luck and good health.

Nothing so sweet as a repaired Bixler 2. Give it a few glide throws first to make sure everything is working, then 3/4 throttle and a hefty throw to launch. Good luck!

Looks like Andrew had a good day, a couple of close calls but great flying prevailed. These Volantex Phoenix are great planes though, better than most of the more expensive ones. Thanks for the vid mate.

Good technique Andrew. A few close calls due to the flat bottom section not being so happy inverted. Its a bit different to Le Fish. Great flying on a wonderful slope sight. I am yet to find a good general site in my area without trees.

That's right, these Phoenix wings never like inverted

Great flying Andrew! Quick question; I am about tho purchase the Phoenix 2000 V2, and would like a second wing for performance slope soaring. Are the Phoenix 1600 (Evo) wing, and the 2000 V2 Wing interchangeable I love watching tour youtube videos and always look forward to seeing when a new video posts! Thanks again, Sean.?

Unfortunately no. Different mounting. Ranger 1600 wing might work

Nice video! Would you prefer the volantex ranger 1600mm or the sky surfer v2 (Bixler v2) for fpv flights? And could you tell my why?
@AndrewNewton6 жыл бұрын
Ranger 1600 can carry more weight and has more space for FPV

Hi Andrew. I just bought one of these and was wondering what you use to paint the wings? I'm in your area and keen to know what paint you use and where you get them from. Many thanks
@AndrewNewton5 жыл бұрын
Hi Tony. Just the cheapest spray can I can find. Accent Quick Spray from Mitre 10. Matt if it's available.

very cool would you recommend the Phoenix 2000 as a first thermal plane?

It's OK, but the Radian 3 channel is the best first thermal glider.

Very nice!! Although a couple of times I thought you were going a diggeding in the dirt. I see your hang gliding friend could not stand the competition. Too many loops and aerobatics?? I must get into practice and improve my lousy flying skills! Three models crashed in two days this week. Are you using the 2 metre wing for the extra control surfaces or adding the extra control surfaces to the 1.6 metre wing. A quick video please???
@AndrewNewton6 жыл бұрын
Just glued an extra 15mm on to the elevator. I'll test it then do a mods video
@gloplg6 жыл бұрын
Thank you Andrew. I enjoy your videos
@jo2lovid6 жыл бұрын
Using a RC simulator that connects with your own transmitter helps get your finger memory into the stix. Phoenix and Real Flight can connect to a TX.
@gloplg6 жыл бұрын
Yes. Thanks Joanne. Been there got one. Doesn't stop pilot error in unexpected conditions or not checking flight modes pre flight dohhhhhhhh. I fly in a valley. Strong winds coming over the hills produced a rotor which I got into at low altitude. A learning curve plus getting old.
@chasjm212 жыл бұрын
Could this be flown using just the rudder / elevator? (I expect this sounds madness to you).
@AndrewNewton2 жыл бұрын
Probably would be OK if you were careful. More up turn of the tips would work better.

Amazing Lokation, let me make a guess, this Plane isnt designed as a Slopesoarer, that can go really fast, how about buillding a Wing specially designed for going real fast, possible Profiles: E 178, E182, HQ 1,5/09, that would scream along the Edge! Windspeeds 30knt+ no Problem 🤯😉 Greetings from Vienna.
@AndrewNewton6 жыл бұрын
Need more speed! What are those airfoils currently used for?
@antonblebann68236 жыл бұрын
@@AndrewNewton These Profiles are used for very fast flying Modells, HQ 1,5/09 for Exampel means HQ The Inventor Helmut Quabebk, 1,5 is the Chamber 1,5 % from Leading Edge to Trailing Edge, and 09(%) is the Thikness , i Think this HP can help You: www.aerodesign.de/profile/profile_n.htm . There are a lot of Datas, to Print, hope i could help You and give You Material for new Modells, Best Wishes from Vienna, Anton
