Phoenix don’t really get down like other places. It’s hot, lonely, people stick to themselves. Bunch of addicts and broken people. It’s mostly trafficking/cartel type activity and it’s done in quiet for the most part. Phoenix can be nice if you’re a normal person with a decent job.

This is the Sunnyslope area of Phoenix. One of the older neighborhoods that started life as an area where tuberculosis patients settled when they came west for the weather to help their health. The area has a full range of economic levels. There are even some millionaires. You see one of the expensive mountain top homes toward the beginning of this video.

You should look up “The Square” in Paradise Valley. Super run down area in the middle of a wealthier part of Phoenix. Last time I was in that area, it had picked itself up a little bit but man that place was shit when I lived their as a kid in the 90’s. From what I hear, it may look a bit nicer but same ole’ shit.

Phoenix in the 90's was active as hell. I had family there that would tell me how it was. When i lived out there 03,04 i loved it. It had that vibe you see in old cholo movies. Cholos out in the open, lowriders, straight barrio. The eastside from 7st to 36st van buren to roosevelt/202 we use to play at the brockett school park, swim in the canals, hot af in the day but cold enough at night to drink hot cocoa and sweet bread. I miss that time period ppl weren't like today. The community would look out for you. You could see the airport, the mountains, dust storms. Phoenix was and is a beautiful city visually.

This is the town where I first got exposed to gang territories. It's been a couple of decades ago but I was driving just south of the Phoenix downtown area and I noticed as I passed through a residential area , the people on the sidewalks and porches we're shouting me down and telling me to get the hell out. This gringo had unwittingly trespassed into the gang areas. It was only a couple of days later that I realized what had happened. I wasn't really mad just kind of surprised that I stumbled to upon one of these areas and was rudely shewed away. They can have their crappy gang lands. Phoenix must have a fair amount of crime because the jail system complex was super massive. I know all the badass gangs inhabit this town. But I don't want to down-talk Phoenix, overall the area was fairly nice.

So many Phoenix neighborhoods look the same..so many beige slump block houses and adobe style. I lived in Sunnyslope area (7th ave/Butler) then Biltmore area (24th & Missouri)...some nice mid century houses near there (between Bethany Home and Montebello around 12th st). Used to commute out to Chandler, downtown Tempe, Scottsdale...hated the freeway traffic, would often take Van Buren from Tempe...that street was pretty sketchy in places..and never went west of the 17.

I grew up in Phoenix and I'm glad I left. There's NOTHING to do in that wretched city. It's so freaking boring, all you see is dirt everywhere, it's ugly as shit. Now I live in south Florida and it's perfect. The beautiful beach is a 20 minute drive from my home, we have martial arts centers, theatres, we have Miami night life etc Phoenix is a dirt shit hole I'm glad I live in south Florida now.

Grew up in these areas. Lots of Cartel and blood/crip type of shit. Glad you came through here Charlie. Some may see that it looks nicer and whatnot than other stuff back east. Business is just run a little differently there than other places I've observed. No hood v hood shit really its mostly based on colors or allegiance. EDIT: AZ doesn't hold a candle to any of this. Cali is a different kind of flavor of "hood" and "project"
