Is there anything there to get a edge up in life such as a good community college a not too overwhelming crime place to live that's affordable and if course jobs?
@jerb925421 сағат бұрын
Don’t come to Yuma unless you already have a job lined up. I’m a federal employee, so that’s how I ended up here. It’s not necessarily expensive compared to other places, but not cheap either, especially being so close to California. It just depends on what part of town/area you want to live in. We bought a house in what they call “The Foothills” area. There is Arizona Western College here, and also satellite campuses for ASU and UA. It’s safe in most parts, but there are some absolutely terrible and extremely poor areas. This video doesn’t show them. There is a drug (Opioids and Meth) problem in certain areas. It’s primarily a farming/agricultural town in the middle of the desert. There are A LOT of Snowbirds (old retired white people from northern states/Canada) that come down for the winter. 100k of them come down every year. It’s a medium sized town. There’s a nice mall, three Walmarts, Target, Best Buy, two Sprouts etc. You have everything you need and all different types of restaurants that you know of. You’re a two hour drive from San Diego and Phoenix, and a four hour drive from Los Angeles and Las Vegas. If you enjoy the outdoors, hiking, fishing and off-roading, it’s paradise. The Colorado River and Lake Martinez are a ten minute drive. It’s the sunniest city on Earth (It actually is, Google it). However, it’s SUPER hot from June-September (120 degrees hot). October-April are literally perfect weather though. I think it’s only rained six times since we’ve lived here.

@I.D.I.O.C.R.A.C.Y. you know, the beauty in vegas is the mountains but i gotta tell ya, the smog, heat and traffic are increasing bigtime! living, working and paying bills keeps most of us residents off the strip for sure! 😁

@I.D.I.O.C.R.A.C.Y. vegas is becoming hotter for longer periods of time every year, and over crowded! living, working and paying bills here is NO party! and car insurance? dont even mention it!😡 this used to be touted as a retirement hot spot, but hence, NO MORE! but i know tourists enjoy it (for a short time)! and i miss snow around the holidays! the sun (HOT AS @#$&) gets real tiring real quick!🥴

It gets rowdy here and there around here, it’s very “normal” though. In the 70’s-early 90’s it was a different place. The Vago’s MC for example had a legendary charter from Yuma who went toe to toe with Dirty Dozen and came out on top. Supposedly the mob would meet here (and lake havasu) during the Vegas heydays too. It’s also a larger border crossing, you can imagine what that means now.
