I had the black "range master" 🤣 kit from 2001 to 2004'ish. Bought it brand new back then for like $130 OUT THE DOOR. Ah the good old days. Actually ended up having to send mine back to them for repair cause something on the frame cracked. Can't remember exactly what it was. But I do know it was something like 4 weeks later the store called me and said it was back. I slept a lot since then, soy memory my be off a bit, but it seems to me like for whatever reason I had to fill out the forms all over again to get the gun back 🤔🤷 But it was a really fun little plinker to shoot and it spent the majority of it's days those 4 years riding around in the glovebox and in the toolbox of the tractor. (185 Allis Chalmers tractor. Toolbox is mounted on the inside of the left rear fender. Very convenient.) Great review and vid. Gonna go look up the .25ACP vid now. 😎🤜🤛

Such a cool gun. Sorry you had a problem with yours. They may have made you fill out the paperwork if they just sent you a new one and did not fix your old one. Thanks for supporting the channel. Safe and Plentiful Shooting to you and yours!

I went to get one of these but it was $189 and they had a Keltec P17 for the same price. I went with the Keltec because of 3 mags and it felt like it had a better trigger.

I have never run the p17. But they seem like a good deal. Got to let me know how it does, and tell me if I need to do a review on it for my channel. Thanks for watching!

Lol! BTW, as a fan of so-called 'mouse guns', I also own a .25 Raven and a .22 Jennings, which the Phoenix was patterned after. And only quarrel I have with the Phoenix is that at 20 ounces, it's a surprisingly heavier little pistol, than either the Raven (15 ounces) or the Jennings (12 ounces) which it replaced.

I would think it would be more cost effective for the manufacturer to make the pistol easier to take down, like the Ruger LCP. It would also make it easier for the owner to clean and lube it.

I think the field strip is one of the short cummings for sure. It is not overly complicated when you know what to do, but takes some practice to get it down.

Much of the pistol is cast, so changing the design would require totally new molds ($$$)

For just a few dollars more than the Heritage .22 revolvers, you are getting 10 shot magazines instead of just a 6 shot cylinder (which then needs the casings ejected). Indeed, these are usually the least expensive semi auto handguns being sold at a LGS and/or online store. I always thought Hi Point should buy Phoenix Arms, it would give them an entry into the .22 market. Glad to see a review on the little plinker!

That's a good idea. I would say it is much better than a Rough Rider. But if it were me I probably would take the HP25a. But I am a sucker for 25's

Both are great plinkers! Do not forget you can get a 22 WMR cylinder, for the heritage! I own both, lol! 6 rounds of 22WMR, single action, vs 10 semi auto? Now that’s a debate! 👍🏻🇺🇸🫡💯

Honestly, that is exactly the same conclusion I came to when I was looking at getting a brand new .22 because I seen that they were around the same price and I really wanted a revolver but then I seen that you had to cock it every single time plus eject It after which I should’ve expected considering it’s a 22 but then I saw the Phoenix arm and just like you said with it being 10 shots semi auto you can’t beat that for the price. I also thought to myself if I’m gonna get a revolver, I might as well get a big caliber you know go big or go home

I perfer this one as well. I think I would take the HP25 myself, much more reliable, and a little more power compared to the 22lr out of that barrel

@@theBucketshallnotbeinfringed with the 22lr it more depends on choice of barrel you use as it comes with the 3in barrel but it also has a 5in barrel < which is actually the one I use for mine as their ain't no way I'm going to trust I can get a temple or shot off at the bridge of the nose aka the two soft skull easy entry points to do a kill shot js.

@562fooo7 The pistol is designed to shoot standard velocity and the owner manual says to only use standard velocity. Because shooting high velocity continually will eventually crack the slide or frame. Same thing if you don't replace the recoil spring after 1000 rounds or so because the spring gets weak. I almost exclusively use CCI standard velocity and Federal Auto Match bulk pack that is a little higher but close enough to standard velocity. Yes it does need to be kept clean. I have shot a full pack of Federal Auto Match before through it without any failures of the pistol or cleaning but I did have one or two dud rounds from the bulk pack. No I do not use this pistol for self defense unless it was all I had. I just use it for practice and training, small game, and varmint control.

@@theBucketshallnotbeinfringed If you are having stove piping then you either have an extractor problem or a mag problem. Clean and check the extractor and its spring. Make sure the mag feed lips or rear corners is not rubbing on the underside of the slide. If they are then file the edges down. Cycle the pistol manually (rack the slide) by hand through each of your fully loaded mags to check the proper function of your mags. If there is a bad mag then replace it. Feed lips might be bent or not properly holding or releasing the rounds or the mag spring is either too strong or too weak. Make sure your feed ramp is smooth and not uneven. Same for your slide breech face.

I agree 22lr is not a capable self protection rounds. Amd this gun is not reliable enough for that job either. I might consider it as a back up if I had no other option. But it is alot of fun at the range.
