Very great examples! This is really how to optimize and get that special spice out of Phoenix. Those particle effects are right up my alley :)

Thank you! I think I should experiment more with Phoenix particles. My particle simulations, with a bit outdated workflow can easily take hundreds of gigabytes of cache, and take many days to save and simulate.

Great tutorial!, I'm currently trying to animate a simple liquid falling down and I want the mesh to have the particle's color based of their speed. The PhoenixFDGridTexture is supposed to help me with that but I cannot convert to 'length' the 'speed channel' like you did with your particle's shaders. Any ideas? Thanks a lot!

Hi there, how would I make a water balloon explode and then fly and attach the particles to a Logo? Thank you kindly!

Stupid question. I'm using the student version and just graduated. Am I able to show my work made from the student version to get clients or on my webpage for clients, employers, etc. Just seeing how far that "no commercial use" goes

I love ChaosGroup's products. Phoenix is an incredible tool. But is there no way to make gpu accelerated sims? If you can optimize the process to use CUDA for example it could save a lot of time. (That said I have no knowledge in programming so I have no idea what the limitations of stream processors are and how hard writing software really is)

If anyone reading this could help, I have followed the steps with the vrayDistanceTex example.. but my large box and the 'footsteps' object emit smoke. I am not sure why the whole box is still emitting. When I render I can see the white area around my my shape. I have dragged the material to the mask slot.. just not sure what is missing.

Hey, did you plug the Distance texture in the Phoenix Source so it can be used as a mask?

Any chance you could teach us how to make a realistic beach scene from scratch. The last one on this channel made no sense and didn't turn out at all like was shown (pretty sure she skipped a lot of steps)

Hmmm, gotta check if that tutorial still works the same with a latest Phoenix 3.13. It was made with Phoenix 3.0 a couple of years back. In the meantime, you can check out the Beach example scenes - we've updated them recently and they should be working correctly: docs.chaosgroup.com/display/PHX3MAX/Example+Scenes#ExampleScenes-Beachwaves and docs.chaosgroup.com/display/PHX3MAYA/Example+Scenes#ExampleScenes-BeachWaves
