The league has always been competitive but I feel like it got stepped up a notch this year. In the past I felt like too many key players were getting cut, bringing down fans enthusiasm for the season. Me included. They need more teams though. When you have every team playing each other 3-4 a year it can start to get a little boring for some.

Agree, 100%. The WNBA has grown women, plus the gals arriving from college we're elite. With 12 team's every game has a chance of being competitive. Maybe a couple more team's, you don't want to bring mediocrity to the league, not like NBA. NBA does not have enough talent to support all the teams; Pistons, Wizard's etc....

Copper is insane. Loved seeing the fight from the whole Mercury team. They are a team to be reckoned with and they don’t even have Griner back yet. The competitive and experienced nature of the team with Copper, Cunningham, Taurasi, Cloud, Allen, etc will take them far as they build more chemistry. Great win over the defending champs who were 16 pt favorites 😂

becky harmon did say that the aces would be having close games this season because of chealsy gray not in the line up ,plus candace parker retired,unless chealsy gray comes back healthy with no pain in her injured foot the aces is not going to 3-peat,the aces need someone to step up from the bench to score at least 15 points to give then a chance.the mercury bench outscored the aces bench 27to 2,that is one of the reason the aces lost by ten points,the aces bench have to do better.

Maybe but they also lost because they gave up 98 points and allowed Copper to score 37 points on 15-23 shooting. Or 65%.🤦🏿‍♂️ And other players can't score if they aren't passed the ball. Alysha Clark only had 4 points and Aja Wilson and Kelsey Plum were missing more shots than they were making. Plum had a lot of highlights but she also missed 14 shots, Aja missed 10. Being efficient counts too.

when their best signing was gustafson and parker retired, that's when i knew there'd be no 3-peat. if they lose in the semis with a healthy chelsea gray i'll chalk that up as a successful season. but i can easily see gray's injury lingering the entire season even though she plays. they dont need no 3-peat to make me happy. aces vs. everybody

Oh I still think they're the team to beat. Especially over a 5 game series. I knew they weren't going to go undefeated. I think they need to shore up their defense, get more players involved instead of the big 3, and slow the temple down sometimes against teams like the Mercury.

The last bit of points were free throw shots by the mercury. The Aces had to foul multiple times to stop the clock. Didn't matter, aces still lost ofc. The wnba usually doesn't use free throws as highlights.

Wtf did I just witness from Phoenix. The league was glazing the fuck out of Britney Griner last season and I hated the Mercury for that. Griner is such a lazy player who lacks on defence and uses her huge height to justify her placement in a team. Because of this she forces other players to work harder to make up for her or keeps them complacent when they think she will be able to carry because she's a giant. I will ride this team to the playoffs if they lay off using Griner and play with the passion they have in this game. Vegas are the double champs and arguably the best team in this league. Even though it's early in the season: this is impressive.
