I love how they're such a production heavy band but these songs are totally in tact while being stripped down. just goes to show they dont rely on electronic gimmicks to develop their sound. its all about enhancing what's already there.

The rhythmic idea behind 1901 is just too brilliant. How they could come up with such a natural-sounding, yet completely backwards riff just blows my mind. Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix really seems apt.

My absolute most favorite band of all time. I’ve seen them love three times, going on four this august. Literally one of the only things I look forward to in my future. Every song is written so beautifully with deep meaningful lyrics. I’ve written papers for school analyzing their words, great writers on English despite being French. I love them.

Now that I've heard this unplugged version of their music I can't help but think they're over produced. I listened the radio version of Lisztomania several times but it sounded maybe too pop for my taste, but now I wished they had their own unplugged so I could listen to it all day long. That's the best thing about the Tiny Desk concerts

If they learned English as kids it might not be that crazy to see them writing such great lyrics. If they learned English as adults then I'd be really impressed.

I will have you know that most people around the world learn English in school. I don't find it that surprising that a non-native English speaker can write such 'complex' lyrics in English. I'm not a native English speaker either. However I will say I'm surprised by the fact that they are French and they speak good English. Most French people are terrible at English because they have a self entitled sense that they don't need it so they don't put the effort in learning it at school.

dude same! I've been loving this band for a decade and for some reason never got around to seeing them and fucking yes I was shocked. But in a good way! I pictured this very polished act filled with male models who love to party. Turns out they look like regular, down-to-earth people and it honestly just makes it even better.

Its amazing they speak french and have such a hard accent,yet when he sings he sounds American. I don't know how this foreigners get such an American accent, yet when they speak normal English they have a very strong accent.

This performance kept replaying threw the thin (near non-existent) sleep that happens in the thick of withdrawing from methadone. To make things even more lame, I was in a Detroit jail cell. The beauty of the notes played by these Saints gave me the inner peace that was needed to rise again. That is the magic and power of timeless songs. Thank you PHOENIX.
