That Beal trade was the main problem. You needed a floor general to help KD & Booker cook but they got rid of CP3 who could best facilitate.

Last postseason they actually played better when CP3 was out. They don’t need a facilitator… more than they need defensive players. Suns defense was really bad and they have no defensive anchor, no lockdown defender, poor team rebounding. They need to focus on getting some defenders.

If you did watch them play, you would see how hard it was for them to get easy baskets during games, and defintely in those 4th qtrs when the games got tight. Only reason they were better without CP3 at times was due to them having Payne who played faster and got them easier buckets before defenses were set up. Only a casual would think them not a having a PG wasn't the main problem. Guarantee that will be the 1st thing they address this Summer.

Ishbia lost me and a lot of Suns fans when he came in and traded/fired much of what built the really good Suns culture. Got rid of CP, Ayton (who had his faults) Bridges, Cam Payne, Cam Johnson, and Monty. Replaced it with 2 guys who do the exact same thing as Booker. That’s not how you build a solid team. This team lacks depth and actual offense. They just go iso and leads to people just standing around, quite easy to defend.

I hope teams and great players take notice in the fact that you cant trade top tier players without draining the team you're going to. You either sign in free agency and join a new team, or you stay. That is one of the smartest things Lebron does, is never ask to be traded, but instead signs with a stacked team over and over. I think its a really underrated point to his career of how smart he has been when he decides to make a move

Nice assessment. All the armchair experts at home are genuinely more stressed and critical of this than Suns fans! Suns are restricted but if they’re willing to explore everything, it’s not as bad as everyone is making out. The owner isn’t afraid to make any type of changes and has no issues with money now or long term. They may only need to tweak a little, change the coaching staff, as they have a bench of players that almost never got tested and half of those joined mid season.

I think he meant he liked the beal trade IF his no trade clause was removed (with beals agreement) as part of the deal. That didn't happen though, Beal still has the clause in his contract.

Even if Beal would have waved his no trade clause when he got traded to the Suns, you're still paying him a ton of money more so than what you're getting in return out of him. So, it's hard for me to see a team giving up good players and picks to bring in Beal with the years and money he has left on his contract plus he's always injured and in the close out game you got nothing out of him.

Because now, even in his expiring year, it has none of the typical value expiring contracts usually hold. I'm with Mr Marks, given the Suns position at the time, it was worth a shot IF the NTC had been waived. If that had to be included, I would have pulled out the deal.

I’m calling this rn: OKC trade Giddey, Cason Wallace, another role player, and as many 1st as it takes to get KD. OKC would still have like $7M in c cap space (depending on who the other role player is) plus the MLE to fill out the roster. The Suns could then use those multiple 1st to reshape their roster while also getting out of the 2nd apron.

Trade Gordon and bring in a defensive minded guard like pat bev (for example) bring beal off the bench as a sixth man. Trade Nurkic for a Center who is better defensively. Bol Bol should get more minutes for sure. I say ride it out for one more year and if it doesnt work just blow it up.

Suns will run it back until 25-26, when KD and Nurkic's contracts expire. They'll be under the first apron if my math is correct and also have access to 3 first round picks by then. Can't really tinker with anything until then because of 2nd apron rules.

So why does continuity count in hindsight for TWovles (who were almost swept last year), Nuggets (who also only won 1 game before exiting the first round the year before their championship run), and other teams, but not prospectively for the Suns? I really don't think its as bad as people make it out to be for the Suns. Nothing is certain, but people are a little too reactionary. Now, if this happens again, then yes please put us out of our misery and blow it up.

The glaring holes in this roster are a true facilitator (Booker has been good at it, but that's not his main role), size, defense, rebounding, and depth (especially at PF). Vogel is not completely to blame for this team's failure, but he isn't the right coach for this roster. I don't see who could be, honestly. Even if they did trade one of the "Big 3" for pieces to fill in the gaps, but they would still be stuck with a duo that is not good enough to lead them. Who would be willing to take KD or Beal's contracts anyway? I don't think they're gonna trade Booker. I see them doing a rebuild in the near future. Ultimately, this all falls on Mat Ishbia's ego and stupidity.

The fan base might not like it, but I think Devin booker gotta go. He’s clearly not the best player on a championship team. It’s shows when Kevin Durant, who was the most consistent player this year whether it be health or production. Even in the series vs Minnesota, he was pretty much the only guy that showed up all series. Yet he as well as frank are catching all the smoke, booker is clearly the best player. Yet the criticism to him is minimal. It’s pretty much a done deal Brad Beal stays unless Ishbia can give him away to team of his liking, in which case we’ll get nothing back in return.

Teams that are 'one player away' might be interested in KD but he doesn't have a whole lot of basketball left in front of him so teams aren't going to mortgage their future for him. And Booker might have the most trade value but he's also the guy Phoenix would most want to keep. Trading him means that you rebuild around Beal and maybe KD.

He spent 4B to buy the team, then mortgaged the teams future for the next 5 years, until 2030 to win now, not get booted in Round 1 in a sweep. The big 3 are owed 150M next year. Those 3 alone are more than the total payroll of 14 teams in the league. Ishbia wants finals at a minimum.
