@@blnk9605 That lady can work. She can make minimum $18/hr or $216/ day working Uber eats and she can work 30 days a month if she needs to, earning $6,480/ month and that's not counting Uber bonuses. She can definitely afford a room or studio w/ nearly $6500/ month. She can also sign up for Wag or Task Rabbit and give her car a break that way. There's so many things that she can do but she comes across as slow and lazy. Society doesn't need her.

I have 2 weeks after waiting for a voucher for 16 1/2 years. Soon as I got the voucher, the abusers started up again now I fled and I have one more night at the Extended StayAmerica in which she doesn’t want to do a voucher I can’t find a damn apartment that willcover the minimal amount that they will give and I’m in Massachusetts

This is supposed to be temporary help not a permanent handout. As you recycle older holders out new holders come in. What have you been doing during your time using this help? Have you tried to better your situation? Find a better job or at least work two part time jobs? As for being on disability and not being able to afford housing I can absolutely confirm that this is a huge issue and I don’t understand why the administration doesn’t seek out and hold onto properties that are used specially for disabled individuals so they can have decent housing. So much needs to change. So much needs to be heard. Good luck to this particular woman. Wish you well!

Unfortunately when it comes to the section 8 Housing voucher sadly participants are in an up hill battle. First of all many real estate agents are not educated with the program nor do they want to take the time out to learn about the program (how the documentation is completed / provided and what expectations need to be set for the Landlord/ Owner. Also I think they should give better training to the participants of the section 8 voucher program as well on how to deal with real estate agents and prospective landlords I personally believe the training on both sides is inadequate. Another issue is the lengthy wait times for the inspectors to inspect the home and provide the results of the inspection so they can quickly and efficiently be treated, repaired or replaced. Too many landlords do not want to deal with the lengthy approval process and on top of that the lengthy period of time to receive the first funds from the program. And then there's another aspect, I personally would say the most people I have met who utilize the program are decent caring people who use the program as it is meant to be used. However there are a few bad actors that unfortunately tear up houses and don't adhere to the rules, and this small percentage of people make it more difficult for the overall average of good folks utilizing the program. This is why there is such a large failure rate in my opinion regarding the section 8 program. I truly believe there needs to be some smart think tanks to come up with new ways to administer the system; and I hate saying this I also believe and know this to be true the system takes on way too many people than the manpower it has to deal with the mass amounts of people they take on. Too many failures and until they work on trying to create better solutions; it will continue to be much of the same.

I urge landlords not to turn their noses up to section 8. For every section 8 horror story you hear, there are a dozen good people who will treat your house with so much gratitude and care. Growing up, my family struggled to find landlords who would accept us with section 8. But thanks to the kindhearted landlords who did, we took care of their houses like they were ours and my siblings & I grew up to be a surgeon, a lawyer, two engineers, a teacher, a nutritionist and an author. Giving back to our communities through our services and tax dollars. Never discount the potential a poor family has, they could literally be an investment that brings great returns to the community!

I'm tired of stories like this. All prices are up, including rent. That aside, landlords do not want section 8 tenants. These are the people who get evicted for every reason under the sun and laziness. Wages are low, everything is expensive thanks to Biden and the Fed. Just get two jobs and get a place outside of town that's cheaper. It's not going to get any better. Decades of section 8 tenants have destroyed landlords' properties and the program did not reimburse them. No one wants to be bothered with them anymore. Deliberately working few hours just to qualify for free stuff has ended. Get two jobs and rent what you can afford. It's amazing how people on welfare are mostly obese.

Most landlords won't take Section 8 renters because they don't get any security deposit and if the tenant trashes the place, then the city doesn't pay for the damage. Also, it's hard to evict Section 8 tenants who fail to pay their portion of the rent. Being a landlord is not a charity. It's a business.

Grew up watching women just like her never try to improve their lives and be content with what the government was giving them. There are no excuses.
