f0t0b0y I shoot and love Canon, but this has nothing to with Canon white balance or color science. Lindsay always shoots with a ColorChecker Passport a hundred percent of the time and gray card for custom color profiles and custom white balance, so either the “original” raw file is shown with Lightroom's default Adobe Color before being altered (unlikely, she probably included the custom color profile as a part of the SOOC) or it is with the custom color profile from her ColorChecker. Canon has stunning color processing for it JPEG's and video compared to other brands, but it's still not good enough by itself for photographers like Lindsay who have color so central to their work.

Hi Lindsay. Thank you for allowing us to see what you do behind the scenes. Also, great call on the eye size. If I may ask, what was the cost on the background roughly and can you suggest a printer in the NYC area? Thank you. Todd
@lindsayadlerphoto5 жыл бұрын
Duggals is a great printer. I used a Canon Pro 4000. Unique Photo in NJ also prints large prints. Cost if you own the printer is under $100.

Hi Lindsay, thanks for this. I can guess your audience has a range of experience and skills. Some may be learning lighting, some may not be so familiar with Photoshop. I'm curious about what's unique amongst the many photography videos on the channels I follow on KZbin - the canvas print. My printer's maximum size is A3, so I'm always curious about large prints. If you get a chance, are you able to introduce us to very large printers, the media the can print to, and how you source canvas? To us small photographers this is a whole world we're most likely not to have encountered before
@lindsayadlerphoto5 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Many local camera stores or labs print images this large. For example, I know that Unique Photo in NJ does. You'll have to check locally to you. If you want to print it yourself, the printer is a Canon Pro 4000 (large format printer)

Loved the video! Great to see Capture One on the tethered laptop. I’ve only seen you use Lightroom in other tutorials, glad to see you with the better tool here!
@lindsayadlerphoto5 жыл бұрын
lol Thats what you take away from this? Honestly either tool gets just about the same job done. It really doesn't matter. Just Capture tends to be more stable during tethering.
@krbenoit5 жыл бұрын
Of course I loved the creative aspect most all, the atmosphere you create with the CTO and plants is amazing. The color adjustments are really important here too though, as you showed so clearly in the video, and I have been finding the sort of color grading and adjustment (for instance in your Creative Live video on that) much easier to do in C1 than in LR with the ability to do more of that without Photoshop. Would love to see a bit more of the details about how you adjusted the raw images color and exposure in the next Deconstructing video.
@lindsayadlerphoto5 жыл бұрын
@@krbenoit Color grading really is fundamentally the same in Lightroom. just fyi. I wish that Lightroom were a bit more stable. But either product gets the color grading job done.

Really interesting to see your whole process. I love how you trust your instinct for what you think will make the image become what you have in your imagination, my favourite being how you manipulated the eye. I know some photographers who make a whole style around adding a touch of the surreal to their images in post processing, but I really admire your ability to have it as part of your toolkit and use it for those rare moments where you know it will enhance your vision. On a side note, having used both the 5Div and the R, what are the things that drew you back to the 5Div? Thanks!
@lindsayadlerphoto5 жыл бұрын
I use both the 5dIV and the Eos R. I tend to use the 5Div when huge files aren't necessary-- makes file management and tethering easier. I use the R when I need a ton of info.
@colinjudge12615 жыл бұрын

My actual inspiration is called Lindsey Adler, seeing you so selflessly helping other photographers, inspires me to help other photographers that are starting. If I see a local photographer that needs help, instead of bashing them like some other photographers I've seen do on Facebook or Insta, I try to reach out to them in a private message and just say "Hey I like your photos, but have you tied this or that?" Most of the times, they appreciate the tip. Just today I met a photographer that I have on Facebook for years in an outdoor event and noticed her images always tend to be underexposed, I told her to verify her cameras display setting and as I imagined they her high. I told her that since the displays brightness is set to high, when she look at the photos on camera they would look fine, but it was because the bright display was illuminating the underexposed images, since she does not do any processing yet, I told her to lower the display to the middle of the onscreen bar or just one tick lower than the middle , and with that tip alone her images started to look better. Now she has to learn post processing, she does take images in Manual and Raw so she's off to a good start :-)
