Thanks Alex, another engaging video. Well explained and easily understood, you're making Photoshop a lot more accessible and less intimidating for me and I suspect many others. You mentioned an upcoming selections video, I'm really looking forward to that one.

Thanks Richard, glad to be of service! I'm not quite sure when I'll do the selections video but it's coming!

Very informative vlog with real learning points. Thankyou very much. Much more interesting and relevant to photography than the '10 SECRET techniques that you MUST HAVE in order to take LANDSCAPE photographs' type vlogs that are so common nowadays.

Nice Vlog Alex & again some great techniques learnt - amazes me the way you effortlessly switch between layers, masks, curves, gradients, folders etc. etc. makes me realise how limited my PS skills are but 'onwards & upwards' as they say... thks again.. John
@alexnail3 жыл бұрын
Thanks John. Yeah, I completely appreciate that it seems effortless and then perhaps more skilful than it really is! I'd hate for anyone to come away from my videos and think that the same standard of editing is too complex for them to achieve. Hopefully my other videos on Curves and Lightroom pretty much explain it all. I think one thing that takes a bit more time to develop is the eye for what you think needs doing!

Superb processing of a great subject. I am learning lots technically but also in terms of how to sympathetically apply technique to the aesthetic
@alexnail3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Howard! Yes it’s nearly always better to go down the sympathetic route than the hammer and tongs approach!

Yet another interesting and helpful video and a good pratical example covering the videos you did on Curves. Looking forward to a video on selections.

Thanks for another very informative video Alex. It’s fascinating to see the use of curves in a real life context like this. Your recent videos have significantly enhanced my understanding of how to use PS curves in conjunction with LR. Though not necessarily my competence 😂😂

Aye, hold on, I'll just nip out to my local erupting volcano and grab a snap, so I can keep up...

No time to write too much except to say excellent content with clear and concise presentation. “Eyewitness” is what I’ve been searching for. Painterly be damned. Thanks Alex, hope to see you in NZ sometime.

I appreciate this series is 3 years old now but I have only just discovered the channel. If you see this Alex would you mind giving me some insight as to why you prefer to use 100% flow and adjust the opacity when you use the brush tool rather than the other way around? Great series - learned a lot from this thank you
@alexnail27 күн бұрын
@@wellsyboygreat question! They are fairly similar and it comes down to preference. But flow would allow you to unintentionally go over somewhere you had already been and increase the strength of the effect whereas opacity sets a limit. So you would have to click again to add another layer of density. In practice I find that to be faster and more precise, particularly if I set the opacity to say 30% and do 4 quick passes. To have a similar control with flow I would have to start at a lower density and take time to make sure the brush didn't ‘cross over’. But still, it is very much personal preference and some people might prefer the more organic nature of ‘time=density’ rather than ‘clicks=density’. But great question!

Thank you, another clearly explained video. Not many volcanoes in Newcastle but for photographing bonfires etc. these explanations will help to achieve an even better result.

Bonfires are basically the same thing, that’s the spirit!

Really cool processing video and really cool from Stefan to send you a very "trending" phenomenon :) I'll be going to Iceland in 10 days, but i don't think we'll be lucky to visit/photograph the volcano

Thanks Horia, yeah I guess that's unknown but at least you are going, that's cool!
