Ah, that's adorable! I used to live in Monrovia and we always had lots of bears roaming the neighborhood. This brings home the point that our hills and mountains are not "city parks" . They are wild spaces and delicate ecosystems with wildlife that needs to be respected, for their sake and yours.

Yes there are some dumbos & jackasses every now & then that’ll do stupid stuff by messing with bears & by being so careless & they pay for it with their lives I.E. Timothy Treadwill & his poor innocent gf who was both eaten alive & their deaths was both filmed by his camera but the footage is only seen/heard by 1 person tho & that was a producer of the documentary on Timothy Treadwill & after he seen the video, he told the owner of video to never show it to anyone & she agreed & burned the footage so it’s gone. It was Timothy’s closest friend, she got his belongings & stuff bcuz she was on his will. Anyways, being eaten alive by bears does happen bro but it doesn’t happens often like how u put it tho. Often is like mass shootings, now that shit happens way too much in our country smh. We’re the #1 capital/country/continent of it & that sucks ass but hey it is what it is. But bears eating ppl alive rarely happens my friend c’mon now let’s get real 💯💯💯

Don was excited to go bear hunting. He spotted a small brown bear in the woods and shot it. Then there was a tap on his shoulder, so he turned around and saw a big black bear. The black bear said, "Don, you've got two choices: either I maul you to death or we have sex." Don decided to bend over. After two weeks of feeling sore, Don recovered and vowed revenge. He headed out on another trip, where he found the black bear and shot it. There was another tap on his shoulder. This time a huge grizzly bear was standing right next to him. The grizzly said, "That was a huge mistake Don. You've got two choices: either I maul you to death, or we have rough sex." Again, Don thought it was better to comply. Although he survived, it took several months before Don finally recovered. Outraged, he headed back to the woods, managed to track down the grizzly and shot it. Finally he felt the sweet taste of revenge. But then there was a tap on his shoulder. Don turned around to find a giant polar bear standing there. The polar bear said, "Admit it Don, you don't really come here for the hunting, do you?"

Great shot! But how in the world does she keep her cameras from getting stolen? I live in So-Cal and can’t leave cheap items in my front yard without them getting stolen, yet she managed to leave a DSLR camera unattended for a year near a hiking trail? That deserves a prize 🏆 as well! Great job on all fronts!

They make camouflage cameras that can be tough to spot. FWP uses them in Montana - I realized my friend’s husband was very sketchy when he spent 2 hours locating the cameras at our campsite/cabin rental. In these places, there’s usually a camera set up at the parking lot that captures license plate numbers. FWP deals with a lot less crime than PD or Sheriff so they actually do have time/staff to investigate and they get their man (I’m sure it happens but I’ve never heard of a woman getting arrested by FWP, we’re a tiny bit sneakier I guess). There’s an understanding that public land is policed more thoroughly than city life, the idea is to never give way on the protections for our natural world, this department takes crime extremely seriously. But if they get many more criminals out there stealing & wrecking things, they will be too understaffed.

I'm a bit curious about that, too. I've seen a few trail cameras at a place I frequent, and they're not always easy to spot even when you're looking for them and they're just strapped to a random tree, but it's an area with vague game trails instead of well-defined hiking trails. If she uses an electronic shutter the camera will be silent, and they're likely tucked into brush or rocks, so most hikers wouldn't see them without searching for cameras instead of hiking. Not many people go hiking at night, but that flash will be a dead giveaway, of course. Even if it's an animal that triggers the flash any nearby people will still notice.

I used to live in those very hills next to Pasadena on Norumbega Dr in Monrovia and As a teenager used to sit on those walls, overlooking the LA BASIN listening to John Denver and Led Zepplin . I have my fondest memories with that exact view 😅

she didn't take this pic, it was automated by a camera with motion sensor that was left in one location for a year until they got a decent automated photo.
