This has been hugely helpful to me. I love the softness of pastel and vibrancy of pastel color, but hate the dust. The colored pencil over the pastel pencil allows the colored pencil to be additive to the pastel pigment and pushes the richer pastel color into the paper (and probably minimizes the dust, too). Thank you for the clarity of your explanations and generosity of sharing information. Lovely work!!

Oh my gosh what a great reference photo you have to work with. Love seeing it all come together since...gosh...all those tiny hairs seem so complicated. Interesting also to see suede being implemented here. I have some suede but haven't tried it yet. This makes me want to try it out! Great video!

What sharpener do you use to get such a great point? I love your lessons, since I am a beginner!

It’s almost impossible to get suede mat board here in the uk, do you think this technique would work on pastelmat? 🎀

How does the suede matboard compare to velour? Which do you prefer? Do you have to push the pastel in like you do with velour?

Suede allows more fine hair detail with colored pencils. Apples and oranges though, gotta try both to see.
