How would you compare the 90mm to the 85mm if it will be used only for macro? Does the 90mm have advantages or does the small size of 85mm win out?
@TheRealRichardWong Жыл бұрын
if you don't use it for portrait or anything that requires f/2.8, i think the 85 lens would be better as you would very rarely shoot at f/2.8 for macro anyway.

Good comparison between the 2 lenses. Great review

That 180 degree focus throw is a massive improvement alone. Getting accurate focus at high magnifications is worth more than any sharpness improvement that would otherwise be obscured by defocus. I did like the high level of adaptability of the 100mm's DSLR design though.
@TheRealRichardWong2 жыл бұрын
yes if you don't mind the larger size, the 100mm could be the better choice for people who shoot with multiple mounts :)

Hi Richard, how does the portrait feature compare between the 100mm and 90mm? And how would it fare against a dedicated prime like 85mm 1.8?
@TheRealRichardWong2 жыл бұрын
Technically, a prime like 85 1.8 is still better , but i think for most people the 90 or 100mm would be fine. To me the biggest thing is just it doesn't have autofocus that some people may want, Difference between 90 and 100mm is really quite small for portrait

Hello! I have a question. Will my z6 IBIS help stabilozing shots from these laowa lenses? Best regards from Portugal
@TheRealRichardWong2 жыл бұрын
yes it would, you just need to set the focal length correctly on your Z6

Where can I buy this lens in the US?

I prefere 100mm. Using z9 small lens is feeling not balanced. I agree for sony or Olympus is maybe different feeling. But for a small lens I would prefer 85mm. Really small nad light.

I will like to know how it performs with a 60 megapixels Camera !? But I think the Laowa 90mm Lens do not live up to my very high expectations, I have the Voigtländer Macro APO-Lanthar 65mm 2.0, I do not need 2:1 or 1:1 because I have a 60 megapixels sensor Camera which I often use in APSC mode and still have lots to crop from. In the last 10 to 12 years I have moved from 90/100 Macro Lenses towards 60/65mm Macro Lenses, I love my old analog Leica Macro-Elmarit-R 60mm 2.8 and I still hope for a new Lens that have the excellent built quality of the old Leica, the Leica have beautiful color rendering and very smooth bokeh.

These idiotic brick tests are getting old and tiring. No one shoots at f/2.8 and expects to get sharp corners on any lens, the point of shooting WIDE OPEN is to blur out the surroundings from the subject that you are shooting.

@@carlosandreviana9448 As a newcomer to full frame mirrorless cameras this lens seems like a good choice for macro photography but as you said AF would have been a welcome addition making it a better all round lens.
