Great advice!! One mistake I have made is buying a foundation that caused flashback. I was pale as a ghost! I recommend doing a flash test.🙂
@LisaMonique
@LisaMonique 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, that is true too, I don't do as much flash photography anymore, so I forget that can be a huge issue!
@trinablum7102

How do you know if the foundation is causing a flashback (which I presume is when you look pale in photos) or if you’re just wearing the wrong/too light foundation for your face? I find sometimes when I see a photo that’s been taken on a phone camera whilst out at dinner I look horribly pale like a ghost. When I’ve done my makeup before going out though I thought I looked okay. I struggle to know what foundation/powder colour I should get so I look okay both in & out of photos. Any tips?

I especially have this problem with a grandmother. Under flash she can be standing next to my wife and her face almost looks silvery. I assume that is flashback but didn’t know that it was called. I have a portrait session lined up for her now and I need to know what to do to stop that. I’m assuming is the brand of makeup or something. Any advice is much appreciated.

By the time we are in our 70's; many have ALL kinds of skin discolorations. I do. I also have Rosacea, and skin dandruff, in addition to all kinds of 'spots'. Bare Minerals is the only makeup that Covers it all. I use their concealer along with foundation. AND ladies. PUT on Darker colored lipstick! Use the kind that DRY on your lips; NO LIP line BLEED. So there is that. You are all welcome.

Most of the time as women we’re our own worst critics. Those that love you see way past any imperfections and see the big heart as well as the love you exude towards them. I’m sure they’d love to have a photo of you as a remembrance of a time or occasion you spent together.💖

Hi Lisa it is great getting the perspective of a photographer so helpful for many thank you! Really great tips. I was thinking of another as I just had a client going for her portrait and she had so much peach fuzz all over her face - great to take that hair off as a camera can pick up that for sure. By the way your hair looks so shiny and healthy very pretty :) xxoo Jackie

Excellent advice. Spot on. My husband is a photographer. I’m not an MUA, but I have considerable experience in front of the camera from my acting days. One trick I found to deal with the red eyes you described is a beige/nude waterliner and a tightline in a color that matches the hair color or mascara. I call the light colored circles around eyes reverse raccoon eyes. They can also be caused by the setting/finishing powder that was used, especially with flash photography. Silica or mica can cause the bounce back. They can easily discover if it will be a problem by taking a selfie with flash before the shoot.

Great video! You are so right! Makeup that looks great in person doesn’t show up as well on camera! I still make the mistake of not putting enough makeup on for videos. And I want to underscore your warning about waxing and tret…the two do not mix and I found that out the hard way…the waxing peeled off a layer of skin under my brows AND on my upper lip! Upper lip scabby mustache is not a good look! LOL. I would stop Tret at least 5 days prior to waxing…but I love my Tret way more than waxing so I just pluck and shave.

My face is naturally a lot darker than my neck. When I try to match my foundation to my neck, I look ghostly. Your thoughts?
@LisaMonique
@LisaMonique 2 жыл бұрын
I never match my neck for same reason!! I match my jaw and then lightly take the darker down my under my chin and neck with brush or sponge, gradually fading lighter- I don’t like a lot of makeup on the neck if I can help it, but I do use the excess product on brush or sponge to help it blend in with my face and chest.

What is a difference between blush and bronzer 🤔
@LisaMonique
@LisaMonique 2 жыл бұрын
Tone. Blush is in general pink, peach or red in tone, whereas bronzer is usually golden brown (can be used in lieu of blush). Contour usually has a cooler undertone. Though I use my favorite bronzers as contour
@sahdogwrangler5594
@sahdogwrangler5594 2 жыл бұрын
I'm not an expert but I would say a bronzer warms up your face & blush adds a pop of color.

How do you become a certified makeup artist?
@LisaMonique
@LisaMonique 2 жыл бұрын
I took a 12 week course at a makeup academy when I was in LA. Though most of the make up I would never do on a 55-year-old face LOL it was a lot of looks for for red carpet and music videos! My problem is I don’t do it enough to get as good as I would like. I know what I like and my clients expect in photos, so headshot makeup is pretty easy, but I still don’t have experience creating a variety of looks so I don’t talk about it much 😊

I need a photographer who will take the time to get the best position and look…that includes best and most flattering smile. Not just take the shot and then later discover a double chin, unflattering smile or yellow teeth accentuate, fat arms,etc. as one being photographed there is no way to know these things. Also, what type of clothing, color, to best produce a flattering shot.
