There is a pretty easy Answers to all this! People see Color, Contrast and artifacts differently Some see it more than others! Then If There is no Problem at all with the demosaicing process (Adaptive Homogeneity-Directed (AHD) ) in Lightroom (I don't know that C1 is using), For FujiFilm camera and Sony Camers then they would never Develop the "Enhance Details" for demosaicing process If everything was fine. .. But you can set the "Details" slider in the sharpenig Tab to "0" and you will get less artifacts in most Raw files. sharaping has always been bad in LR/ACR i Feel like. i Use Both C1 an LR.. GREAT VIDEO BTW! 👍🤓

The recent subscription changes are crazy, but of all the arguments, I don't think the price is a big factor - they are both expensive products anyway - I've used the same version of Capture One for years and only had to upgrade when I switched to an M1 Mac, and I suspect what most people will do is to buy once and then update when they need, so the only real difference is if one really needs the latest updates all the time or not. I suppose Adobe doesn't roll out new features every month so I think the most interesting question is what gives you the best quality given your workflow, i.e. if you need the super advanced colour editing of Capture One and use Affinity for editing, or if you are happier with the Adobe ecosystem.
@todor_todorov Жыл бұрын
you have to upgrade capture one the moment fuji xt6 or a new lens pops on the market which is retarded + LR and PS subscription is at least twice as cheap as capture one. i dont know what the fuck fuji are smoking to promote this overpriced crap

This is a great review and mirrors much of my own thinking. I've used Lightroom for years now and have frankly grown tired of it's instability, inconsistency with cloud sync, lack of parity between LRC and LRCC, and slowness. I have over 6TB of files, LR only allows up to 1TB for cloud sync, so I have a complicated workflow of starting imports in LRCC then archiving to LRC. However LRC does not play well syncing originals from LRCC. I've been trying to import 6TB of files into C1 and well it's been a week and previews are still building. That said the AI masking in LR is light years ahead of C1, and when it works, the fact that I can edit on my iPad, and those edits are synced to my desktop and laptop is amazing. C1 has built-in Leica profiles that I thought were better than LR, until I realized the sharpness and noise reduction were turned up, and I can get the same look from LR by doing the same. I do like the flexibility of the color editing, but I can still get the same final result in LR. I think much of the mindshare around C1 is due to Capture One sponsoring KZbinrs. LRC has had tethering for many years and it works fine. C1 has advantages in wireless tethering and crating separate "sessions", but I wouldn't say the actual process is night and day from LRC. End the end, I'll probably just stay with LR as it's overall advantages in 2023 outweigh the few that C1 has.

I switched from LR about three years ago, due to the import module and the library organization. At that time, it was a pain to import and separate the files in LR. And in my workflow, where I need to tag, filter and separate the image of several subjects of each session, it would cost me a lot of time. When I first used C1 it was like a breeze to do that. Its module has been updated and, besides not knowing how's in LR, I think that it's almost impossible to beat C1 in this matter. I loved the addition that Adobe put on the masking using AI. And the would be the only thing that still makes me think about turning back to LR, but the library, for now, it's more important to me.
@Seimstudios Жыл бұрын
That's interesting I din the C1 library much more dated. You could not even synchronize folders still about a year ago. But I say use what works for you.
@AdautoAraujo Жыл бұрын
Now you can synchronize and much more. I love the speed to import images, the way C1 group photos when importing, the new addition to automatically zoom to faces and so on. But, as you said, we should use what fits better to our needs.

If you own a Fuji XH2 or XT5 with that new 40mp sensor, Capture One is way better at RAW processing. Don't know why, but it is. I've done the testing. Way more detail in finished jpeg. However, with the 26mp sensors from Fuji, they aren't that discernible from LrC jpegs. Weird.

@Seimstudios Жыл бұрын
Agreed, we need the competition . I just wish the competition would see the opportunity and stop acting so stupid so they can actually complete.
@JuanRhodes Жыл бұрын
@@Seimstudios Adobe is many times the size of Capture One. They can throw teams of people at LR features that are probably larger than the entire dev team for C1. IDK that the competition is stupid as much as outweighed. That said LRC is a bloated mess that they keep bolting features on to, but they haven't built LRCC to have parity in many basic features yet so LRC still lives. Adobe's AI advantages will be hard for smaller competition to match up with.
@neilr7935 Жыл бұрын
Maybe it's just me, but I find Capture One Express (completely free) does a WAY better job of matching the Fuji film simulations. You can compare a JPEG from the camera to a C1 RAW file and a Lightroom RAW file (both using the same Fuji profile), and the C1 RAW will be far closer. It gives a much better starting point similar to what you saw on the back of the camera. Capture One also recovers highlights better for me and skin tones have a more pleasing pop. Perhaps it's possible to achieve similar results in Lightroom but it seems to require infinitely more fussing around (and this is coming from someone that has used Lightroom for a decade before trying C1).
@Seimstudios Жыл бұрын

Most people really don't get c1. If you do advertising or fashion, you would never come to the idea of using Lightroom. The ipad app has a total different use case. You are on location, 1,2,3 or 5 people are there from the client, the agency booked you whatever ... they get an iPad while shooting and giving photos an "ok" while you're shooting. This is the common use case. There is also nothing else used than apple. It is just the industry. Also you might get an idea why the price really don't matter.
@Seimstudios Жыл бұрын
That's really not the industry. More and more pros are leaving capture one because they charge more for less. That's the industry regardless of what Phase One and snobby "fashion photographers" pretends. These categories really mean nothing to the pro market.

@@Seimstudios sorry, LR still is far from being an option for any fashion, advertising or just let say a professional who has to work in a team. There are so many things missing, people who never had this experience ever need. And this is totally ok. Also, the color profiles for most cameras in adobe are just not usable for colour dependent work. Even if you use something like a color checker before shooting a scene ... it is just pain. And just to make it clear. I was using Lr since the beginning, I hated C1 the first years when I had to use it with digital backs...

@@TasteofTaboo I've been in this business longer than most and I've learned when something is based on facts the data is clear. When its a company trying to create a vibe it's also clear. This vibe maybe comes from the marketing that most fashion photographer are using Phase One cameras. They are not. I've seen more people leaving capture one in the past year than ever. It's color profiles/ noise and process is beating C1 in nearly every yest now and if the snobby fashion world has not started witching they will unless C1 picks up the ball. LR at this point lacks only in tethering from what I can find in my tests. Thanks for your thoughts. Though I have to disagree.

Ive used LR for years and just recently tried C1 and 100% the C1 the photos are much more close to what i shot in camera then LR skintones. Without a doubt far better. It seems to take less for me to get a photo exactly where i want it to be before i take it to photoshop. Don't get me wrong ive made some awesome work with LR and will still use it but, not for studio work. There is a reason why the top pros use C1 and i see why now..

LR def used RAW filed. Not sure what cameras you have but no C1 does not render far better and top pros use both. It's just a tool. Both read RAW files in the same way, though they may interpret them a but differently. This will vary by camera. If the end however choose what you like best. LR in general has more power than C1 in 2024 because of it's ai selection and noise tools. But in general you will get equal results with C1.
@PMP777 ай бұрын
You should look it up lr changes from raw to thier own version. I shoot canon and I can see a huge difference in the way the photos are read by each program. The skin tones are clearly different under studio lighting I use profoto b10. I get the ai shortcuts are great, but that wasn't what I was talking about I use both was just saying there is a significant difference in the way they start off to be edited. They both seem to have great things I will use them both. Just was a bit surprised that they seemed so different. Because I have used lightroom for so long it will be hard to leave fully of coarse.
@Seimstudios7 ай бұрын
@@PMP77Yes I know. Very app has to interpret the raw. It's nature of RAW files. C1 does the same. There are some differences in the way they start out. One is not right or wrong. They are RAW files and they don't have a baseline like people think. The raw engine interprets them. It's usually a small difference but from certain camera it's more. C1 is not ding better, just different and you may happen to like it's base better on your camera but the processing is not better. Believe me I've tested this more than almost anyone in the industry. If you use C1 for awhile you will see it lacks in many areas that LR excels at. pros and cons. Use what you like best.

Another point is that you are simply assuming that sliders with same name work the same way in different softwares... not considering the way both programs map highlights, shadows and stuff... if you want to reach the EXACT same result in both programs you cant expect to use the exact same sliders about the exact same way and "boom" its done. that said, for me is way easier to get a really good result on Fuji files on C1
@Seimstudios Жыл бұрын
I don't assume that. I make very clear in my tests that sliders vary between the apps. Don’t you hate it when the KEYBOARD GETS stuck on CAPS lock All THE time?

Well it's true C1 is better on default setting imported, that is because sharpening and noise reduction has been set by default. What the video shows is that given the correct sharpening and noise reduction in LR, you can have the same wormfree output. Now, which is better comes to personal preference.
