So lucky that you live near such natural beauty. The tip of working against light instead of with it is so valuable and easy to remember. Thanks for another great ride! 😊

Love your enthusiasm for life Mike. Nothing better than a lovely day, a motorbike and a camera. Went to a motorcycle toy run before xmas, photographed lots of nice bikes, quite a few Triumphs. Had very sore leg muscles the next day from squatting etc 😄. Like the long shot of the chapel with the beach etc, tells the story better.

Thanks for that Mike. I have driven past the chapel many times but the layby on the hill has always been full. Had not even realised you could walk up to the chapel! Must make the effort to spend a day there and do the leg work.

great video and love watching you out and about. Just a question. Would it not be easier to use the exposure guide that comes with the stopper?
@MikeBrowne
@MikeBrowne Жыл бұрын
Thanks Nigel. You can, but as I said, if you know your stops I find it quicker and prefer to count on my fingers. Sometimes it takes ages to find the card in my bag, once had one blow away in the wind and that's a pain when you don'tve much time. These clouds were gone and followed by blue sky right after I shot this. Not saying my way is best. It's just how I do it... MB

Informative video, thanks. I’ve never used filters so the explanation of the shutter speed was useful but I don’t understand the aperture side of it. Will this be explained in future videos?
@MikeBrowne
@MikeBrowne Жыл бұрын
Hi @Paul F In this case we're not using aperture's superpower (depth of field) it's only being used as an exposure control. So you can add/ remove stops of light by combining them with shutter speeds. For example - 10 stops > drop shutter from 1/1000th to 1/4 = 8 stops and 1/4sec is the perfect speed to blur a waterfall the way you want it. Slower will be too much blur, faster not enough. But you still need 2 stops less light. Let's say you're on f8, by going to f16 you've reached your 10 stop goal, without compromising the amount of blur. I can tell there are still some areas of confusion for you around camera controls and settings. I guarantee my Masterclass online course will clear these up for you or your money back. Link below... @@MikeBrowne Hi Mike, thank you for the reply and explanation. I will have to get a filter and try it out for myself now I understand why you changed the aperture to get the last stops of light. I did the UBC some time ago. I think I will have to go back and review what you said in those. Really enjoying the 7BB course.

Hello again my friend! How's things? I was just thinking when you were taking those shots of St Catherine's Chapel, how good they'd look as drone shots. What do you think? I personally don't have one, nor have I ever used one, but the number of times I've thought that I could take an amazing photo if only I had a drone is nobody's business!😄
@MikeBrowne
@MikeBrowne Жыл бұрын
Hey Ash. Drones have brought a whole new dimension to photography and this place is a great location for one. Part 2 is coming in a couple weeks where we get much higher up without a drone... If you're on my newsletter I'll send you a reminder. Link below... MB www.photographycourses.biz/goodstuff

No, no, apertures are easy (even if the numbers are not). Instead of increments of x2, it is increments of square-root-2.
