Wildlife Photography & Landscape Photography: Photographing Black Bears & Waterfalls in Great Smoky Mountains National Park
In this vlog, I document my time doing wildlife and landscape photography in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Home to black bear, deer, elk and many other species of wildlife, the Smokies are an ideal location for wildlife photography, and I was able spend a good amount of time photographing bears. Additionally, the Smoky Mountains are known for the multitudes of waterfalls found within them, which allowed for me to spend some time doing waterfall photography as well. Overall, I had an awesome weekend photographing wildlife and landscapes in the Smokies, and I hope to return later this year.
Thanks for watching!

Thank you, I really appreciate it! Yes it was a shame… they were eating peacefully and we would’ve been able to watch them for a while, but some people decided to push their boundaries and approach too closely instead 😕

Nice video, and good bear photos, you are going to love the R5, I absolutely love Yellowstone can't wait for your upload, been there twice and was going a third until COVID started, wished it wasn't so far from the UK :-(

Thanks! Yes the R5 is amazing, just got it in yesterday and I’m blown away by it so far. I love Yellowstone as well, it’s such an awesome place. Can’t wait to get back out there. And yeah, COVID really messed up travel, sorry to hear about that. Hopefully things will be getting back to normal before too long.

@@wattswildlifephoto Thanks, just want to add I know you have spent quite a bit on gear lately, I use the 100-400 MKII and even with the 1.4 extender III it is very sharp, but if you have the funds, for such a crazy price the RF800mm is brilliant, it won't replace my 600mm F4 not in a million years, but on a sunny day this lens is so sharp, and more than useable, I use it when I have a lot of walking to do, for Yellowstone this lens together with the 100-400 for the closer stuff, it would be an amazing combination.

I recently spent a week near/in the park, and I saw ZERO bears. I was very sad. Maybe it was too early in the year?

The real problem I can see is when people get way to close to the animals like the bears, it can make it difficult to do a video or take good still shots, and people scare the bear and other animals away. It's a foolish thing when people get to close, it's risky for the people but also it's risky for the bear, because if they attack a person the Game Wardens kill the bear, and I think that's very unfair because People know the rules and they choose not to follow the rules, and people are in the bears 🐻 "Home Territory"
