Thank you for sharing your approach to this very successful portrait (as well as all the others here). I am intrigued by the "mood board" you spoke of. A common flaw of my portraits is that I fail to set a mood - to tell the subject what kind of portrait I'm looking for, and getting buy-in from the subject so he/she can collaborate. Instead, I busy myself with the equipment. If you have more you can say about this part of your sitting, I'm all ears. Thank you.
