Photographing Local Woodland Detail | Woodland Flower Macro Photography | Geoff Moore Photography

With the lock-down restrictions being lifted somewhat I headed for a local woodland this week to explore a new location and photograph some woodland details in macro. With most of the leaves and woodland flowers now in full bloom I look for those intimate details on the woodland and make use of the lush woodland growth at this time of year.
The conditions were breezy and very overcast, the latter however makes for perfect lighting when photographing woodland flowers and reflective subjects as the grey overcast skies act as a natural soft-box reducing the harsh and strong contrast mid morning light. Perfect for a spot of Macro photography

Hello Julian, firstly thank you for taking the time to comment on my video, its warming to know that its inspired you to get out with the camera and give in the field macro a go. As for my camera bag I use it is a MindShift Gear BackLight 26L link here to save you some time amzn.to/3iFIUFP Its been a cracking addition to my photography gear, super comfortable, secure and plenty of space for camera equipment. Can even get in hats, gloves, wet weather jacket and a few snacks. into it when its fully loaded too.

Go for it! - I really enjoy the Pentax 100mm, you can find them pretty cheap as used items and brand new for a reasonable price considering the quality. I think what often overlooked by other owners of the Pentax 100 mm Smc D FA Macro F2.8 WR, and why they turn up in the used section often is that it has impressive versatility for portraiture and also landscapes, the latter; I find difficult going back to a zoom once I have used the 100mm for landscapes, its rendering of the image is critical and clinical, so if detail is required, you really cannot beat it for the price.

I have to agree Macro opens up a new world, often beneath our very feet, that unless one is really looking for it would pass over a million times in a lifetime. I'm hoping to keep the Macro aspect of my photography and video production as part of this channels offering as it does seem to be enjoyed by people, as well as trying to build the landscape photography vlogs I also so do.

Another well-presented video Geoff - nicely paced, and very well edited too. You're getting better every time you do one. Macro isn't my thing but some very nice shots too, crisp, detailed and a lovely DoF. Keep it up. BTW, the music suits the pace and feel perfectly.
