What a wonderful production. Thanks Todd - one camera, one lens - so retro ;-)

Thanks very much, sometimes that's just a great exercise in seeing using one lens. Thanks for watching.

Shooting with one camera and one lens does bring out your creativity. Allan Schaller did a video for Leica entitled the Liberation of Limitations. Limitations can lead to freedom to create. A good photographer friend calls her camera bag "Her Insecurity Bag" with a plethora of cameras and lenses to choose from. I love going out with one camera, one lens and it inspires me. So thank the blowing wind for creating such wonderful photographs.

There are many things that draw me to this channel. Principally the wonderful photography. Secondly the places and the country you shoot and film in. But most of all the relaxed and thoughtful commentary of what you aim to convey. That and your hat. Your trademark is your hats. All in all, just perfect. Always follow the light.

Beautiful! I had planned a trip to Alberta this fall but unfortunately couldn't make it, I am planning on making the trip next year and will add the sand dunes to the itinerary. My grandparents ranched not far south of the border in western North Dakota and one of his expressions was.....the only thing to slow down the wind is a barb wire fence somewhere in Saskatchewan 😉.
@toddkorolphoto2 жыл бұрын
Nice, you'll like it. I think I know the fence you're talking about :-))

I just found your channel. Your video is excellent and I really like your choice of music and pacing. Simple yet interesting and effective. I especially like the interspersing of images with narrative and music. Too many you-tubers talk a lot and show very little work, or just shill products. Your work is excellent, especially the shadow work in the small dunes. Well done!

Wonderful! How are you getting the blue skies to be dark? Is that a post-production thing or camera filters?
@toddkorolphoto2 жыл бұрын
A bit of post production, but a lot of it is exposure, I am exposing for the highlights, and let the darks go dark. I should do a video on that.
@moky99 Жыл бұрын
nice video and photos. I see you used the 45 f3.5 lens for the X1D II. Did you compare it with the 45p f4.0 ? For landscape photography would you recommend the 4.0 (which is very affordable) ?
@toddkorolphoto Жыл бұрын
Yes I have a friend that has the 45 F/4 it’s amazing. Just as sharpe, lighter and cheaper.

In sand hills, did you have any trouble with sand and dust (even without changing the lens outside) ? I plan to go in desert with my X1D II 50C and 45f/4 and I'm a bit frightened to get some problems with the sand winds.
@toddkorolphoto Жыл бұрын
Funny I was just printing photos today from that trip. I did not have any problems , but I did not change lenses. I also kept the body and lens covered when I wasn't using it.
