Some really brilliant photographs Martin, and I do say this as a landscape photographer who thinks that 90% of the photographs are put on the Y.T, are absolute rubbish of zero merit. What I like about your photography of ' water ' is that you have not fallen into the cliche of putting a 10 stop ND filter and make water look unrecognisable. A photograph of water , particularly if its flowing must convey a sense of movement and energy plus textural details. Your photographs are well balanced in that respect, and I like that very much. So thank you for sharing these photographs with us. For anyone who wants to know what the sense of flow, energy and texture in water should be like, I'd recommend the viewing of the brilliant photographs Surf by of both Edward Weston and Ansel Adams.

Thanks for the video Martin! Maybe you will make the same about snow photography. In your Zero 45 shots I hardly see vignetting. Did you fix it in the Photoshop? I tried to shoot with 4x5 pinhole. But I get very strong vignetting
@martinhensonphotography3 жыл бұрын
Depends on the focal length , at say 25mm its very strong, 75mm it is there but not as bad, some of the pictures in this vid are cropped so that would remove some of the vignette
@dougyintheshed42883 жыл бұрын
Wonderful images as always. Do you think any dynamic range is lost in the scanning process? Thanks for another great video 👍
@martinhensonphotography3 жыл бұрын
First thing to consider is the negative itself, a well exposed and developed neg will produce good scans, a badly exposed Neg or incorrect development will not, it also depends on the scanner you use, by that I mean a Nikon dedicated scanner will produce a higher DR then say a flatbed scanner, also your scanning workflow plays a big part, good scanning to pull as much detail from the negative's as possible then having a good editing workflow to fully take advantage of the detail captured, if you do that then you will produce images IMHO with better DR than can be achieved in a Dark room, different yes, but because its easier on a computer to bring all that detail to print which unless you are a master dark room printer, you would find it difficult printing on dark room papers to achieve the same level of detail form the darkest shadows to the brightest highlights, so there are many variables to take into consideration when working the hybrid workflow
