Just turned 19, but I grew up with his music and that of Elton John and Billy Joel, and I can say that I prefer the music of these great artists over the music of my generation.

Not knowing him personally, I was crushed when I heard on the radio he'd been killed in a plane crash. There have been only to musicians that I ever cried for when I heard they'd died; one was Jim Croce and the other was John Denver. I felt that Jim had a lot left to say and left us way too soon. RIP Jim and love and prayers to your wife and son.

Jim Croce, „Photographs and Memories“, Lyrics [Verse 1] Photographs and memories Christmas cards you sent to me All that I have are these To remember you [Verse 2] Memories that come at night Take me to another time Back to a happier day When I called you mine [Chorus] But we sure had a good time When we started way back when Morning walks and bedroom talks Oh, how I loved you then [Verse 3] Summer skies and lullabies Nights we couldn't say goodbye And of all of the things that we knew Not a dream survived [Instrumental Break] 1:09 - 1:33 [Verse 4] Photographs and memories All the love you gave to me Somehow it just can't be true It's all I've left of you [Chorus] But we sure had a good time When we started way back when Morning walks and bedroom talks Oh, how I loved you then

Mark Ian Vestil Jim was killed in a plane crash in September 1973. He was 30 years old .

After a concert in Louisiana on Sept 20, 1973, Jim and his bandmate Maury boarded a plane to leave for another concert and it didn't ascend high enough, hit a tree at 30 feet in the air. Jim, Maury and the pilot were killed. Maury was just 24 and was self taught on the guitar. Now, for the grizzly details. Jim sustained severe injuries to his face that resulted in his death. There's also word of possible harassment by police there and a murder coverup after. www.gendisasters.com/louisiana/1962/natchitoches%2C-la-jim-croce-others-die-plane-crash%2C-sept-1973 www.topix.com/forum/city/natchitoches-la/TOVBVUOUS6CCMU535/p5
