I really enjoyed this video. My mother was from Kagoshima. She and my father met during the Korean war. I've never been to Japan but have a deep fascination with it. I doubt I'll ever be in a position to go so seeing your images of Kyoto was very enjoyable. I look forward to seeing more of your work there. My father was a commercial photographer so I have been involved in photography most of my life, operating a camera repair business for about 12 years, and I really enjoy your large format videos. Thank you for this video, I look forward to more.

I took a trip to japan a few years ago. Divided my time there between Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka. I left Osaka early and went back to Kyoto to finish my trip. I absolutely loved Kyoto. The city was spared bombing in WWII thankfully.
@toddkorolphotoАй бұрын
@@shawnhinton68 I hear ya, Osaka was a place I struggled the most making images. Kyoto seemed much more natural to me. I could have stayed there longer.

Funnily enough this video release has perfectly coincided with my my first trip to Kyoto. Im about to head out to explore more of the city today. I do have the distinct advantage in that im living in Japan for a year so I've more time than most to explore. I am also averaging around 30k steps per day! If you really like Japanese gardens then i highly recommended visiting the Ritsurin Gardens in Takamatsu on Shikoku. I went there last week and they are stunning, one of the largest in Japan I believe.

I’ve only visited Japan once (Tokyo and the surrounding area), and after 6 days, felt like I could live there. Kyoto and Fuji-san are on my list of must visit cities. Todd shooting mirrorless full frame cameras? I was expecting at least a 4x5 field camera.😊

Cool trip video. Most Shoguns didn’t rule from Kyoto which was the Imperial City, except during the Ashikaga Shogunate which had a Northern Court in Kyoto and a Southern Court in Yoshino.
