I'm a self taught renaissance man that's got gas but I get by just enough to pass...spread yourself too thin and you'll never win but I love dipping that toe in just about everything. Cool thing about a hobby is you don't have to do it like a job but you wish you could. During a 1989 interview with Mark Rowland (per George Harrison on George Harrison: Interviews and Encounters), George said, in a way, he knew he was supposed to be a guitar player, but he didn’t feel like one. I used some new gear that I hadn't practiced on at an event today and had a better experience than my other camera which I carried as well and knew better. Was it because of the tech or was it because I enjoyed using it more? Why have I hung around watching the Georgia Photographer for so many years when there are so many other bigger channels out there? I have no idea other than David is the real deal...whatever that is, it's David.

David: it is clear that you understand the "situation". All you need to do is do the things that give you pleasure and always, ALWAYS, keep on learning and get out there & take pictures. I watch your channel to share your photographic journey (and a few other diversions) and to learn from you sharing your experiences. Ken Bair

@@davidsaylors Multitasking! Moving computers, OLED TV's and having everything to be perfect. What I have learned is You do not put the same tv brand in the same room. Just one tv to turn on at one time not two or three. So I got rid of my Cable, Dish for TV and have a Samsung Plus Tv service which is free if you have internet. Just plug in an over the Air Antenna to have local stations. So I have a Samsung in the Garage, Office, Master Bedroom Closet and the Breakfast Area. Now I got one problem. What do I do with the extra 4k LED 40" Samsung TV. Cheers!

Very good video David ... I see so many photo channels that just copy everyone else .. if you just stop and take look ... most are editing their photos the same .. Nothing is different .. most just have no imagination when it comes to content ... "just copy what everyone else is doing " . I do Photography for myself .. not to have a lot of likes ... " keep your channel going David .. do it for yourself .. Have a great day and get your camera out and take some pictures ... 🙂

David I got into hiking for stress relief from work , life and at one time having a long commute in LA Traffic because of the in teresting scenery I saw hiking I got more than a passing interest in photography. There is one truth no matter how well or good you are there is always somebody better. I have hiked and photographed Half Dome in Yosemite I have summited it 3X , Angel's Landing Zion N.P. also two of the most dangerous hikes in the US . I have visited almost every National Park in California and photographed them. When I was in the hospital for heart surgery the staff found it hard to believe I had hiked all the places as most heart patients have succumbed to a number of vices to require heart surgery. I had no underlining conditions and was in better than normal health for a person of my age. So I do the things for myself i do photography and hiking for relaxation I did the surgery mainly because I wanted to return to hiking my quality of life was missing a important element the ability to hike and to me it was worth the risk of surgery to be able to do so again .

Hey David, you are spot on. For people searching for a Photography channel on KZbin, the YT search engine uses amongst other things, THE TRANSCRIPT OF WHAT IS SAID DURING THE VIDEO and, yes, the comments are part of the search engine too :)

I still have not learned to effectively use all this too... that is the sad part.

I enjoy watching your videos, usually here at the computer with a morning cup of coffee. What I like especially about your shows are a couple of things. One, you strike me as being a good dude and your enthusiasm for photography is inspiring. I live in another part of the country, your casual photo walks with a neat camera and lens around Chattanooga and the surrounding small towns and countryside I find interesting, informative and downright fun! Your people pictures, when you do take them, are excellent. As long as you keep posting your work, I'll keep watching. Thanks

I dont really know how you solve imposter syndrome but I think I need to just put it out there Even If its the work that i think know one wants to see everyone has people in there lives that want to support and help them grow in the thing they enjoy. I struggle with this and im trying to be better about letting the world see my work even though I don't think it's to a level that others would like to see because we are our own toughest critic. I also think complacency plays a part in how i handle my projects and hobbies. I get into a grove of something and can never find a way out.

Thank you for sharing this. I think your on to something with putting your work out there. That has to be the best advice I have heard so far.

David, I look forward to and watch your videos because of you. As someone has already pointed out, I too feel as though I’m watching and interacting with a friend with whom I have common interests. Keep doing what you do and sharing what you share and I’ll keep watching the Georgia Photographer. Today is my birthday and I’m going to take out my camera(s) and take some pictures😉

As usual, David, you bring up some interesting points. By the way, imposter syndrome is unavoidable. Google the Dunning Kruger syndrome in Photography. Explains it perfectly. Basically, if you keep taking photographs you will eventually have it. It should be looked on as a badge of honour!

Definitely agree about finding the camera that you feel good using. I am very well into the Lumix camp because I love the feel and usability of their cameras. Really no other reason. I would have no problem using another brand but I can see myself always going back to Lumix because of the way it makes me feel.

This was a great video David, I agree with everything you said, especially about getting to know your camera properly. Its like a car, if you want to drive it really well you cant change car every 6 months, after 2-3 years you know exactly how that car will behave, same with cameras. I wanted to mention about the imposter syndrome thing. I would say to you, its not for you to judge if your work is good enough, its up to others. You shouldnt worry so much. its like if your work is appealing to people or not is up to other people and how you feel about it doesnt matter. So just go for it. One other thing id mention and its not in relation to any particular youtube channel, just a general observation, if something is popular or not doesnt tell you if its good or not. Look at mcdonalds, super popular, any good? Generally popularity and quality have nothing to do with each other, we can still say mcdonalds is doing something right because people buy it but good and right are really different. Its playing a different game. You can be good and popular or bad and popular as well though, because they are different games.

Good talk David. Love these philosophical type content. You have given a lot of good advice in this video. I heard once from another creator, If you are going to create a Video then go with intent of creating that video. I have found that video creation is rewarding more than my photography.

Some days I am in the zone and can’t wait to get out and make a video and some days I just want to wander the streets with my camera and a handful of batteries… but it does seem like the videos are more rewarding most of the time. I have to agree with you. 📸👍
