Love this tutorial! I more or less use IF sliders, but never knew the process and function of IF sliders until now. Also, you thought me something new. 8:43 / 14:44 I never use IF slider option on my Dodge and Burn. This is going to level my painting skills in Photoshop. Thank you!

Although not perfectly similar I can agree with colour grades not being universal. I've been doing photography about 5 years now and in that time I've realised copy pasting settings between one photo to another, even very similar ones, still requires tinkering to ensure you compensate for the new light values, temperatures, contrast etc of the new image. Even a small visual difference could make the copy paste look awful
@TheSecondOne1232 жыл бұрын
Anytime I try an reuse a color grade, I always end up just starting fresh. Ironically starting fresh is sometimes less frustrating than tweaking something that already exists. Series are an exception but I do them so rarely!
@Trinket_Master2 жыл бұрын
@@TheSecondOne123 yes, this 100% As you said starting fresh is genuinely just less hassle ironically

Great video, excerpt I disagree The inversion group of blend modes are sometimes exactly what I need, divide in particular is particularly useful.

I recently discovered luminosity masks for color grading as an alternative to blend if. they give a real nice smooth look with added control and freedom. I can’t wait for your course btw, I’m definitely going to get it when it comes out.
@TheSecondOne1232 жыл бұрын
Luminosity masks are killer! I wished I utilized them more, but since Blend If has so many other uses, I think I just settle on what's easiest in the moment. But I always say I want to incorporate luminosity masks more into my workflow.
@LimitlessCollectiveStudios2 жыл бұрын
@@TheSecondOne123 Yeah for sure, blend if still has the advantage of being interactive with the image below it. Whereas luminosity masks are static as they rely on a mask. They are best used as a final touch sort of thing.

Unfortunately, she won't be, but the crying/tear and makeup effect techniques will be! She's a good example of how my pretty/cute stuff uses the same techniques my darker images do.

Hey don't dismiss the inversion category in blend modes. They can do some pretty good effects sometimes. Difference is also great to align 2 similar images, plus it's one of the special 8 blend modes, where fill and opacity has different functions That aside, blend if really is an amazing tool. I think i use it in almost every image. Both in my photography and in my photo manipulation
@TheSecondOne1232 жыл бұрын
I can do a whole video about the inversion group! But no one would watch it 😂. So I threw it under the bus.
@uhorne2 жыл бұрын
@@TheSecondOne123 haha, i would though. I mainly use difference and exclusion from that group. Haven't really figured out if the other 2 are useful for any effects

It's behind the eyelashes, but also behind the eyebrows. Not to criticize, but was that your intention or an overlooked detail?
@TheSecondOne1232 жыл бұрын
It's meant to also be behind the eyebrows as if you were creating the effect in real life, you would make a break in the brows (not place the liner over them). But that's down to preference! For a face paint effect, something more oil-based, I would create a white texture in the brows.
@mad_cat2 жыл бұрын
@@TheSecondOne123 Then my next step is to put liner in my eyebrows. Sort of kidding. That makes sense. Thank you for that explanation, that definitely helps.
