This is so far one of the most useful photogrammetry tutorials I have ever watched. Most tutorial only lets you know what's the best setting for the camera, but this one teaches you why you need the specific setting, especially using the shutter speed to adjust the ISO and the aperture. Thanks for bringing up such an awesome video :D

this is a very advance photography tutorial XD you covered content most photographers don't talk about. like the diffraction and shutter speed. QUICK TIP: you can set the shutter speed as low as the focal length like if you have a 50mm lens don't go below 1/50 and still shoot handheld but below the focal length you would need a tripod.

@@GlebAlexandrov I'm quite long into 3D so what you are talking about is well understandable. However I'm new into photography, just after purchase a brand new Sony a6000, especially for photogrammethry :D. So as a beginner photographer I didn't found (or I just need to watch once agian) any info if I should turn off chromatic aberration and/or vignetting correction >in the camera

Great job. I know all that already but never the less it is always refreshing to watch it again. Maybe you can make a video about "automation" there is some gear out that which can automate the process of data acquisition, such as "Syrp Genie Mini" for example. Maybe you have a great idea on how to improve in that field, because data acquisition can be really boring is you need to take 500 pictures. A great solution ( which I don´t think exists yet) is to have an automated tripod where you can change the hight of the tripod with a motor and an app and the cam takes some pictures say 150mm above ground then 300 - 600 - 1200. this would be perfect for scanning indoor.

Hi Gleb. Nice tutorial !!! I looking for a camera for outdoors photogrammetry. My main issues is that I'm seeing very low numbers with the use of monitor...300/400 photos. Do you have any suggestions for a good camera with a large battery? Thanks and keep up the good work.

hej, This is just great, thank you so much! Question: how do you make sure that you can scale your digital model right in the end. I have to make Volumecalculations for an complex object, approx 1.50mx2.00m, but difficult to measure. What Reference do you usually use for Objectscanning?

Hey dudes. I just a Nikon 3500 (yup, I know, I didn't know shit when I bought it) and I use old Nikkor AIS lenses, they're sharp, clean with low chrom-ab. The 35-70mm zoom is amazing, no fuzz just clean pixels; it's also parabolic so no need to readjust the focus. Very cheap and very amazing quality.

How and where to edit photos taken in Sony Mirrorless camera a batch process for even weighted exposure throughout a project? Also, how and which software is best for laser scan and photogrammetry data merge ?
@Fre1maurer
@Fre1maurer 2 жыл бұрын
May using a wide angle lens be a general advice? A wide angle lense automatically has a large depth of field. And you cover more of the scene with a single shot. On the other side the kens should not be too wide, to make sure no distortions come into play.
@GlebAlexandrov
@GlebAlexandrov 2 жыл бұрын
Oh yes, of course. Especially in the confined spaces (a narrow corridor for example). The distortions could reduce the pixel quality, but photogrammetry software generally knows how to correct it with minimal loss.

How do you make the 3d scanning generation work in agisoft or reality capture if you use flash on your photos. Never been able to get a decent output. I can only make it work when photos use natural light that is not from flash due to possible inconsistencies of the photos produced.

If I don't have enough depth of focus, I use focus stacking. Yes, it complicates the process, but the result is worth it.

I didn't bought the course (as i already does photogrammetry (In the end of the pipeline with processed photogra) and already know how it work) But i'd like to know, is there is in this course any benchmark of many datasets, hand-held, tripod, with wide lens, or with zoom lens, shooting overcast vs shadowy, using the same dataset on different software, shooting face or vegetation. Etc...
@GlebAlexandrov
@GlebAlexandrov 2 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. We talk about these things a lot in the Best Practices of Photogrammetry chapter (the 1st one, the fundamentals so to speak). As for including the specific benchmark photosets of overcast vs direct light and shadows, hand-held vs tripod - no it isn't included. I should say it's a good idea though!

It depends on the lens, but often the image grows less sharp at small aperture values: f/16, f/22 and so on, it's called Diffraction.

If I'm using a drone to do this, I'd want to go with a higher shutter speed and would need to bump up the ISO to compensate right?
